The Coalition of Presidential Campaign Councils of Support Groups (CPCC), Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the party to recognise, include and engage grassroots support groups that worked for the party during the 2023 presidential election.
The coalition made the call on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at a press briefing in Ibadan, where its Chief Coordinator, Hon. Yemi Akinwale ‘JP’ (Havana), said the various support groups remained committed to the administration of President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope agenda.
Akinwale was joined at the briefing by the General Secretary of the CPCC, Oyo State APC, Alhaja Morakinyo Aminat, and a member of the coalition, Pastor Akinola David.
Akinwale said the coalition comprised coordinators, leaders and grassroots mobilisers who worked across Oyo State during the 2023 presidential election, adding that their structures covered the state’s 33 Local Government Areas, 351 Wards and 6,390 Polling Units.
According to him, the support groups committed their time, resources and organisational structures to mobilising support for President Tinubu during the election because of their belief in the Renewed Hope agenda.
He, however, expressed concern that many of the coordinators and grassroots mobilisers who participated actively in the 2023 campaign had not been adequately engaged, recognised or integrated into the governance process.
“This situation has inevitably affected the morale of many of our members and supporters,” Akinwale said.
He stressed that support groups should not be regarded only as election-time structures, arguing that their grassroots presence could be useful in communicating government policies and programmes, addressing misinformation and providing feedback from communities to government.
“Our message today is simple: we seek recognition, inclusion and engagement,” he said.
Akinwale emphasised that the coalition was not seeking to undermine the APC leadership or the Tinubu administration, but wanted to contribute constructively to the success of the government.
“We are not here to complain. We are not here to create division. We are not here to undermine the leadership of our party or the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Rather, we are here to offer ourselves as partners who remain available and willing to contribute to the success of the administration,” he stated.
The coalition appealed to President Tinubu, APC leaders and relevant government authorities to create appropriate channels through which support groups and grassroots mobilisers could be meaningfully engaged.
It also requested that qualified members of the groups be considered for appropriate appointments, programmes and other legitimate opportunities where their experience, competence and grassroots connections could be utilised.
The coalition further called for a structured engagement between the Presidency and representatives of support groups in Oyo State.
According to Akinwale, the coalition was ready to present a practical roadmap on how its existing structures could be used to communicate government achievements, obtain grassroots feedback and strengthen interaction between the government and citizens.
He clarified that the demand was not based on entitlement, stressing that competence, responsibility, discipline, merit and due process should remain important considerations in governance.
“Our position is that those who have demonstrated commitment and possess the requisite capacity should be given opportunities to contribute where appropriate,” he said.
*Looking Ahead to 2027*
On the 2027 electoral cycle, Akinwale said there was a need to strengthen communication and engagement with grassroots stakeholders, noting that the coalition’s structures remained present across Oyo State.
He said the objective was to strengthen the relationship between the government, the party and grassroots stakeholders rather than weaken it.
The coalition subsequently reaffirmed its loyalty to President Tinubu and the Renewed Hope agenda and appealed to the Presidency, APC leadership and relevant government authorities to urgently consider mechanisms for recognising, including and engaging support groups in Oyo State.
It also requested an opportunity to meet with President Tinubu or an authority designated by him to formally present its concerns and proposed roadmap for grassroots engagement.
Akinwale said the coalition remained ready to work within established political and governmental structures and contribute positively to the administration.
“This briefing is a call for partnership. We believe that governance is strengthened when there is communication between leaders and the people, and when grassroots stakeholders are given opportunities to contribute constructively,” he said.
He added that members of the coalition remained committed to Nigeria, Oyo State and democratic participation.
“We are loyal partners. We are grassroots mobilisers. We are communicators. And, most importantly, we remain available to serve whenever our experience, structures and capacity are required,” Akinwale said.
