Oyo South Senator, Alli Donates Medical Equipment to Ibadan PHC

Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has donated medical equipment to Omowunmi Primary Healthcare Centre, Orita- Aperin in Ibadan to boost healthcare delivery for residents of the community and beyond.

This is contained in a statement issued by his Media Office and made available to newsmen on Friday in Ibadan.

The donated items were received with joy by the Executive Secretary of Oyo State Primary Health Board, Dr. Tunde Olatunji, health workers and residents.

Among the 89 items were motorcycle, generating set, beds and mattresses Fire Extinguisher, Sterilizer, Stethoscope, thermometers and several others.

Alli said that the donation fulfilled part of his electioneering promises aimed at improving the well-being of the people through enhanced, accessible, and efficient healthcare services across his constituency.

The senator said that quality health was a basic right, saying the initiative complements President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Federal Government efforts in transforming Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) for better service delivery.

He added that his intervention extended beyond healthcare, listing solar-powered streetlights, boreholes, skill acquisition and e-marketing empowerment among projects already executed in the district.

Alli stated that similar gestures would soon be extended to other Primary Healthcare Centres, especially those in the Ibarapa zone of Oyo South Senatorial District.

He appreciated party leaders and members for their steadfast support, describing them as pillars of strength in the pursuit of development and people-centred governance.

Receiving the equipments, Olatunji commended the senator for the thoughtful donation to support primary healthcare service delivery.

Olatunji said the gesture would go a long way in complementing the state government’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable healthcare to all residents.

He urged the management and residents of the community to ensure proper use and maintenance of the donated medical equipment for sustainability and long-term benefit.

Meanwhile, residents lauded the senator for prioritising healthcare and delivering on his campaign promises.

Olubadan Honours ‘Odidiomo’, Wife With Chieftaincy Titles

In recognition of his outstanding service and deep ancestral roots in the ancient city to Ibadanland, the federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency of Oyo state, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, has been conferred with the revered honorary chieftancy title of Odidiomo of Ibadanland by His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, (Ige Olakulegin I), the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

 

This was made known through an official letter dated 27th June 2025, issued from the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan and signed by Prince Olasunmbo Owolabi Olakulehin, Special Adviser to the Olubadan.

 

In the letter titled “Letter of Notification and Offer of Honorary Chieftaincy Title”, the palace conveyed His Imperial Majesty’s royal pleasure in honouring the lawmaker with the chieftancy title, in recognition of his “valuable contribution to the development and progress of Ibadanland”, as well as his consistent representation of the city’s interest both within and outside Nigeria’s political landscape.

 

In a notable gesture, the Olubadan also extended the honour to Hon. Olajide’s wife, Alhaja Adenike Shakirat Olajide, who will be installed as Yeye Odidiomo of Ibadanland, affirming the couple’s shared service and goodwill toward the ancient city.

 

According to the palace, the installation ceremony is scheduled to take place during the Olubadan’s 90th birthday celebrations and the first anniversary of his coronation, billed to hold between July 4 and July 13, 2025, at the New Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.

 

Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, who currently chairs the House Committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology and Cybersecurity, is a proud son of Ibadan with deep ancestral roots in the city’s rich cultural heritage, who has shown consistency, loyalty to Ibadan causes and an uncommon touch with the masses.

 

He is widely respected across Ibadan and Oyo State for his grassroots development efforts, empowerment programmes, youth focused initiatives and consistent representation of Ibadan’s needs and priorities at all times.

 

The chieftaincy installation ceremony is expected to draw political leaders, traditional rulers, stakeholders in governance and a large number of Ibadan residents to the palace grounds as formal arrangements for the installation has been set in motion to celebrate an honour, many have described as long overdue and well deserved.

A South West Chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP)., Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has rejoiced with Muslims throughout the country as they celebrate the New Year, Hijrah 1447, urging them to practice religious tolerance by living in peace with adherents of other religions.

Hijrah marks the commencement of the Islamic new calendar year and is celebrated all over the World by Muslims.

Ajadi in a statement he issued and personally signed on Friday, urged Muslims and people of other Faith to always pray and have renewed hope in God for a better Nigeria.

He also called on government at all levels in the country to use the occasion of the Muslims’ New Year to prioritise justice, good governance and poverty alleviation.

According to the statement: “I rejoice with all Muslims in the country as they celebrate the New Year, Hijrah 1447. I thank God that the new year meet our country in peace despite economic doldrums.

“I also wish our Muslims Jamaah all the good tidings of the New Year but urge them to celebrate moderately and with consideration for the freedom of adherents of other religions.

“Let me also plead that as we celebrate the New Islamic Calendar Year, we should embrace religious tolerance and live in peace with our neighbours. We can’t achieve any greatness or economic development in an atmosphere of chaos.

“Let us use this occasion to renew our faith in God and pray for the restoration of our country’s economy which presently is in coma.

“I urge governments at all levels to prioritize fairness, justice and good governance. The governments should also alleviate poverty and use the resources that the Almighty Allah has freely given us to better the lot of Nigerians.”

Birthday: Oyo NUJ Felicitates Ex-Union’s Chair Opadotun @62

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council on Thursday felicitated one of its former State Chairmen, Comrade Gbenga Opadotun who clocked 62years.

Opadotun, a two-term Chairman was one of the best performing leaders of the Union in its recent history.

A statement by the Council Chairman and Secretary, Comrades Ademola Babalola and Sola Oladapo respectively thanked Opadotun (a.k.a. Ekuro) for his worthy contributions to the Union.

The Union said, “Under his leadership, the Union built a new guest house; a library; a clinic amongst others with training and retraining of members alongside other welfarist programs for journalists in the State.”

According to the Union, Opadotun’s legacies of hardwork, sacrifice and dedication to the cause of unionism and freedom of the press would forever be remembered.

“As our leader, Comrade Gbenga Opadotun (Ekuro) clocks 62years today, it is our prayer that God should elongate his life and grant him the grace of many more years to continue to serve Him and humanity in general.

“We laud his dedication and many achievements while his tenure lasted and pray that God should grant all his heart desires. Amen”.

Coronation: Ibadan Mogajis, CCII, Baales Hail Adegbola As New Eleruwa

Mogajis in Ibadanland, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Baales, Ibadan Compounds Peace Initiatives (ICPI), and other stakeholders have fecilitated with Oba Samuel Adegbola over his forthcoming coronation as the Eleruwa of Eruwa land. 

 

The stakeholders said the monarchs ascension to the throne marked a significant milestone in the history of Eruwa land, and the Ibadan community is celebrating this momentous occasion.

 

Adegbola is billed to be coronated by Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde this Saturday, 28th of June, 2025 in Eruwa, Ibarapa East local government area of Oyo State.

 

A statement by the President of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori and ICPI Coordinator, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade said Ibadan Mogajis, CCII, and Baales praised Adegbola for his leadership qualities and commitment to the development of Eruwa land.

 

They expressed confidence that the monarch will build on the legacy of his predecessors and take Eruwa land to greater heights.

 

“One thing that is very critical and we want the whole world to know about Adegbola is that he was the one who further cemented the relationship of our age-long Ibadan/Ibarapa.

 

“He has been the link that further joined together in the pride of Ibadan/Ibarapa.

‘Odidiomo’ targets partnerships, investment opportunities for Nigeria

The chairman, House of Representatives committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology and Cybersecurity, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, is among foremost parliamentarians from across Africa, at the ongoing 20th annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF), which commenced on June 23 at Nova Spektrum in Lillestrom, Norway, just outside Oslo.

The hybrid format event, running through June 27, convenes over 2,000 international stakeholders, government officials, private sector executives, technical experts, civil society activists and academics, for a week of high level discussions under the theme “Building Governance Together”.

With a membership in the Parliamentary Track of the IGF, Hon. Olajide is expected to participate in focused deliberations on digital policy, governance and regulatory frameworks tailored for African and global inclusion.

The federal lawmaker who represents Ibadan North‑West/Ibadan South‑West federal constituency of Oyo state at the national assembly is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with key figures including the UN IGF Secretariat and representatives from the European Commission’s, DG CONNECT, as well as officials from various African parliaments and global ICT firms.

These exchanges are aimed at securing strategic partnerships and investment opportunities for Nigeria’s emerging tech ecosystem.

The World IGF is convened annually under the auspices of the United Nations and serves as an open platform for dialogue among stakeholders on internet governance and digital development.

2027: Will Shina Peller Stage a Comeback?

As Nigeria gears up for the pivotal 2027 general elections, the political landscape is vibrant with aspirations and ambitions. One figure who has emerged as both a hopeful candidate and a beacon of leadership is Hon. Shina Peller.

Hon. Shina Peller is not just a politician; he is a successful businessman turned politician who served in the ninth Nigerian House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023, representing the Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency,

Peller, who is the Ayedero of Yorubaland, is widely known for his unwavering advocacy for youth representation in government. This has led to his honorary recognition as the Grand Commander of the Nigerian Youth (GCNY) and Life Patron of the Nigerian Youth by the National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN).

Another thing Peller is known for is his constant call for the need to create a new functional system in Nigeria that will make the existing one obsolete. He always argue that the current system is faulty.

Also, Peller always speaks against political godfatherism which has become a norm in Nigerian politics.

Peller’s outspoken nature sometimes put him at odds with influential figures within his former political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). His candid criticism of the party, which he described as anti-people, stirred controversies. While some influential people within the party considered his criticism absurd, many, particularly the masses, commended his bravery, courage and honesty.

As a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Peller successfully sponsored/moved some important bills/motion which include but not limited to:

– The need to tackle scourge of rape and other sexual offenses against female child and women. This prompted the federal government of Nigeria to establish the country’s first ever Sexual Offense Register as contained in Peller’s prayers.

– ⁠His bill on the need to strengthen National Orientation Agency for optimal performance was also noteworthy.

– ⁠The last motion he moved as a member of the House of Representatives was the need to strengthen Nigeria’s Creative Industry. This subsequently led to the present government creating Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy.

In the spirit of honoring a campaign promise, Peller opted not to run for a second term in the House of Representatives in order to give room to the rotational agreement between the local governments within his constituency. Instead, he aimed for the Oyo North Senatorial District seat, a decision that saw him face an electoral defeat amid allegations of irregularities.

However, this setback did not deter his political ambitions. Now, as a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peller has publicly declared his intention to run for Senate again in 2027.

One of the key factors influencing Peller’s potential for a comeback is his undeniable street credibility. His popularity and acceptance extend beyond mere political rhetoric; they are rooted in genuine connections with the people.

Also, his strong relationship with Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, further solidifies his stance as a formidable candidate for the forthcoming election.

Shina Peller has never hidden his admiration for Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadeship style. It is evident that his loyalty to the governor is not in doubt, as he has consistently maintained at different public gatherings that Makinde is a visionary leader and most performing governor in the history of Oyo State.

Due to his close relationship with the governor, some believe that he may be Governor Makinde’s preferred PDP candidate for the next Oyo State gubernatorial election.

Peller’s ability to engage with constituents on a personal level enables him to genuinely understand their concerns and needs. This rapport transcends traditional political boundaries, making it easier for voters to relate to him.

Amother noteworthy aspect of his leadership style is his unwavering dedication to youth empowerment. Through the Lead Generation Initiative (LGI), Peller has trained thousands of Nigerian Youth across the country on leadership, governance, political organizing and mobilization, active citizenship, strategic communication and others.

LGI exists primarily to create and nurture a new generation of leaders that Nigeria and the world will be proud of. By equipping the next generation with the necessary skills, LGI is not only addressing immediate challenges but also laying the groundwork for sustainable development.

Alao-Akala’s Daughter Takes Legal Step to Confirm Real Children of Late Governor

The family of the late former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, has plunged deeper into crisis as his first daughter, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Alao-Aderinto, has approached an Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, seeking an order for a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test on seven individuals claiming to be Biological children of the deceased, as well as an application for the exhumation of the late governor’s body to carry out the DNA test.

In a suit filed before Justice Taiwo of Court 12 at the state high court, ring road, Ibadan, with Motion Number I/443/2024, Oluwatoyin Alao-Aderinto, through her counsel, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Oladipo Olasope, is praying the court to direct that the DNA tests be carried out on herself, including Olamide, Adebukola, Olamipo, Olamiju, a serving member of the House of Representatives, Tabitha and Olamikunle, as listed in the motion on notice filed before the court and that the test be conducted at a court approved, accredited laboratory to determine their true biological relationship with the late governor.

As part of the application, Oluwatoyin is also seeking an order of court, directing the exhumation of Otunba Alao-Akala’s remains from the mausoleum built in his Ogbomoso country home for the purpose of carrying out the paternity test.

The results of the tests, she pleaded should be filed under a sealed envelope and delivered directly to the presiding judge for pronouncement in open court.

The fresh application brought before the court is a new twist in what has become a messy and prolonged family feud over the vast estate of the late politician, who died intestate on January 12, 2022.

The crisis, which has been brewing silently since his burial, became public in October 2022 when one Kemi Alao-Akala and Olamide Alabi, believed to be one of the deceased’s daughters, obtained a Letter of Administration from the Oyo State Probate Registry without the knowledge or consent of Oluwatoyin, the first child.

This singular act, she contend is a deliberate and unlawful exclusion that contravene applicable laws guiding intestate succession in Nigeria.

In her affidavit and accompanying exhibit filed in support of her motion, she accused the duo of manipulating facts to claim sole control over the estate, despite the presence of other biological children and heirs.

The estate in question is said to be massive, spreading across several properties in Ibadan, Lagos, Abuja, United Kingdom and the United States of America, including a five star hotel in Ghana, vehicles and multiple bank accounts containing hundreds of millions in naira, dollars and pounds sterling.

Oluwatoyin’s position on her deceased father’s estate stems from her strong resolve at ensuring that every individual, including nuclear and extended family members, aides of the former governor, who served him meritoriously without blemish and yet to identified children among many others are catered for, as against the winner takes it all approach adopted by the duo of the defendants.

The said administrators listed only seven individuals as legal heirs, but Oluwatoyin’s position, as articulated by her counsel, is that there is no consensus on the paternity of these persons and that the inclusion of some and exclusion of others in the administration of the deceased’s estate raises troubling questions of authenticity and equity. It is on this basis she seeks judicial intervention through scientific means.

It will be recalled that in an August 2023 letter made public, counsel to Oluwatoyin, Oladipo Olasope SAN, warned that the exclusion of the claimant who is the first daughter of the late Alao-Akala, violated both moral norms and legal rights, stressing that unless resolved, the dispute could further polarise the family and damage the late governor’s political legacy.

A journalist, Mr. Musliudeen Atanda Adebayo has enjoined the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Public Complains Commission to prevail on NIRSAL Microfinance Bank from further deduction of money from his account.

Adebayo who is the Oyo State Correspondent for DAILY POST made this assertion in a petition written to the three agencies, a copy of which was made available to journalists on Friday.

Our correspondent reports that copies of the letters have been submitted at the EFCC Ibadan Zonal office, CBN Ibadan Branch and PCC Oyo State office in Ibadan.

Adebayo in the petition titled “Petition against NIRSAL Microfinance Bank over sudden increment of my payable loan” urged the three agencies to prevail on the bank from further deduction of money from any of his bank accounts.

Adebayo in the petition said that in 2020, they were promised to be given grant during COVID-19 pandemic, he was given a sum of one hundred and eighty thousand but he later found out that it was loan.

He said that he has paid the principal loan as well as the 15 per cent interest. He however said that it was regrettable that the bank is demanding additional 15 per cent from him, after he has paid the principal loan and the interest.

Adebayo in the petition noted that he has approached a branch of NIRSAL Microfinance Bank at Dugbe to close the account but they insisted that he will still pay additional 15 per cent.

He then used the opportunity to appeal to the EFCC, CBN and PCC to prevail on the bank not to deduct any money from his account anymore.

“I have exhausted all the necessary avenues to resolve this matter amicably but the manager and the staff of NIRSAL Microfinance Bank at Dugbe Ibadan are still insisting that they will still deduct money from my account after I have paid the principal loan and the 15 per cent interest and I do not have any other options than to write this petition to the three agencies and make it available to the journalists for all members of the public to know what is happening.

“I am using this medium to lodge a complain over sudden increment of my payable loan at NIRSAL Microfinance Bank from 15 to 25 per cent. I will like to state that I was not informed that it was loan that we were given instead of grant. A sum of one hundred and eighty thousand was given to me during the COVID-19 pandemic era in 2020.

“An account with 0250571240 was opened for me by the bank. We thought that it was grant at that time. No message was sent to me untill August 2023. Sometimes in August 2023, I received a message that I was supposed to have paid the loan. I started the repayment in September 2023. I approached the Dugbe Ibadan branch and demanded for the total amount I was to pay. I was told by the cashier that I was to pay the sum of N180,000 and additional 15 per cent as interest which if added together is N207,000

“I paid a sum of 10,000 on 19th August 2023. 5,000 on 22nd August 2023. 5,000 on 29th August, 2023. 5,000 on 20th September, 2023. 5,000 on 23rd October, 2023. 10,000 on 29th December, 2023. A sum of N101, 277 was deduced from my account on 10th May 2024 through GIS, additional sum of N1,727 was deduced through GIS recovery on 2nd July 2024, while N35,525 was also deduced through GIS recovery on 4th March 2025. On Sunday, 4th May, 2025, I paid a sum of N28,471 from my Jaiz Bank account as the balance I was to pay. I have paid the principal amount (N180,000) and the interest of fifteen per cent (N27,000). I am am not owing the bank and I want the account to be closed.

“Unfortunately, I approached the same branch and I was told there is additional N18,000 I was to pay. I told the manager to provide the schedule of payment I was issued sometimes ago but he refused. As at today, I have paid all the total amount of money I supposed to pay based on the sheet issued to me when I demanded the total amount of money I was to pay.

“On Friday, 23rd May, 2025, I approached the same branch demanding for the closure of my account but they told me that I can only change the status of my credit which I initially disagreed with. They told me to write a letter with the headline “Request to update my credit status”. I was not comfortable with this arrangement as I am no longer interested in dealing with the bank anymore.

“My request: I have paid all the total amount of money I supposed to pay including the 15 per cent interest and on this premises I seek your intervention to prevail on the bank not to deduct any money from my account henceforth. I want to close the account totally and I do not want to be have anything to do with the Bank anymore. I am using this medium to appeal to you to use your good office to ensure that all these requests are granted”.

CCII, ICPI, Ibadan Mogajis, Others Laud Oyo Deputy Governor’s Peaceful Resolution of Oyo-Osun Boundary

Ibadan Obas, Mogajis, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Baales, Ibadan Compounds Peace Initiatives (ICPI) and other stakeholders have commended Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, for his maturity and patriotic approach in handling the boundary dispute between Iwo and Ibadan in Ogburo community.

Recall that the dispute, which has been ongoing, recently escalated, prompting the Oyo and Osun state governments to jointly call for peace and urge the National Boundary Commission (NBC) to finalize the demarcation process.

A statement jointly signed by President of Ibadan Mogaji’s, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori and Coordinator, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade praised Lawal’s leadership during a high-level meeting in zone 11, Osogbo, where he addressed stakeholders from both states.

They appreciated his emphasis on peace and unity, noting that his approach reflects a deep understanding of the historical and cultural ties between the people of Oyo and Osun states.

Lawal had urged all parties to avoid inflammatory statements and rumors that could incite violence or breed mistrust.

According to the duo, Oyo State Deputy Governor’s efforts to promote peace and cooperation between the two states have been widely praised.

Lawal approach has been seen as a positive step towards resolving the dispute and strengthening the relationship between Oyo and Osun states.

The statement affirmed that all major federal activities like 2006 and or other Censors activities after the creation of Osun state indicate that Ogburo, Papa community were all counted as part of Oyo state

“Also, Ogburo is always ward 11 unit 3 of Lagelu local government of Oyo state in federak elections held after the 1991 Osun state creation.”

Agitation for Power Shift in Oyo State

It is better to begin this reaction with a question and the question begging for answer is: did Senator Fatai Buhari make a data gaffe with his election statistics or was it a deliberate attempt at watering down the ongoing advocacy for Governorship Power Rotation in Oyo State?

Recently, many of us will recall that, Senator Abdul Fatai Buhari, who is representing Oyo North Senatorial District of Oyo State in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, granted an interview where he gave a wrong and miscalculated statistics about the voting percentage of the five regions who are stakeholders with equal right to the first political seat in the Pace Setter State.

Before we go further in this reaction, it is good to state that Senator Fatai Buhari is from one of the three Local Governments in Ogbomoso that had been drawn with the ten Local Governments of Oke-Ogun to make up for Oyo North Senatorial District.

In addition, it is also good to put it on record that, for good twelve years, Senator Buhari has been serving for third term in the National Assembly as the Senator, representing the thirteen Local Government Areas that make up Oyo North Senatorial District.

In the interview under review, the Senator gave some disturbing and unsubstantiated Data about the voting strength and pattern of the regions or zones of Oyo state.

The wrong statistics presented by the distinguished Senator said Ibadan had 51% of the voting population of Oyo state; Oke-Ogun had 22%, Ogbomoso had 18%, Oyo had 7% and Ibarapa had 3%.

Now, a simple summation of these figures from the Senator adds up to 101%, not 100%. From this calculation, therefore, it is evidently clear that the Senator, a politician of such caliber, is not current with electoral data and statistics of the State he wants tp govern. The figures he gave were not in sync with the original Data from INEC – the electoral body managing the process elections in Nigeria.

To further buttress the point we are making, the INEC Data for the 2023 gubernatorial election for Oyo state is as follows:

1. Oyo State total number of registered voters is put at three million, two hundred and seventy six thousand, nine hundred and five (3, 276, 905).

2. Total number of votes cast in Oyo State is nine hundred and eighty seven thousand, six hundred and eighty eight (987,688) representing a 30% voter compliance.

3. From total number of votes cast in item 2 above, Ibadan had 40.6%, Oke-Ogun had 30.9%, Ogbomoso had 13.1%, Oyo 9.8% and Ibarapa 5.5% representing 99.9%, which is approximately 100 %.

Furthermore, according to INEC Data, the voting character or pattern of each region or zone is as follows:

a. Ibadan region had 1, 778,372 registered voters.

The total votes cast in Ibadan was 401, 209 votes, which represented 22.6% voter compliance.

b. Oke-Ogun region had 651, 090 registered voters.

Total votes cast in Oke-Ogun was 305, 634, which represented 46.7% voter compliance.

c. Ogbomoso region had 394, 539 registered voters.

Total votes cast in Ogbomoso was 129, 636, which represented 33% voter compliance.

d. Oyo region had 282, 738 registered voters.

Total votes cast in Oyo was 97, 220, which represented 34.4% voter compliance.

e. Ibarapa region had 170,166 registered voters.

Total votes cast in Ibarapa was 53, 989, which represented 31.7% voters compliance.

The above is INEC Data breakdown and is genuine, authentic and verifiable. Now, the question to ask is, where did Senator Buhari get his own Data from? Was it a mistake on a calculated attempt at suggesting that Rotational Governorship agenda is unachievable in Oyo State, the Pace Setting State like in other Southwestern States.

Or, could it be a deliberate attempt to water-down or jeopardise the agitation for an Oke-Ogun Governor come 2027?

Senator Buhari made some comments during the interview that Governorship should first be zoned to Oyo North Senatorial District after which micro zoning would later be discussed. After his twelve years of being the Senator over the ten Local Government Areas of Oke-Ogun, he still has the effrontery to be talking about micro zoning? Isn’t that saying that Oke-Ogun people are fools or foolish? Is that not a case of greed and selfishness that some politicians are known for?

A good assessment of Senator Buhari’s statistics shows how unfair politics has been in Oyo State where some regions want to dominate the other perpetually.

In addition, Senator Buhari deliberately settled for Senatorial District instead of region in order to present to the world that Oke-Ogun cannot push the advocacy without Ogbomoso that it shared the Oyo North Senatorial District with. This is nothing, but a case of complicating a straight forward issue when it is on record that late Adebayo Alao Akala, of blessed memory from Ogbomoso, was the Governor of Oyo state between 2007 and 2011 zone.

At this juncture, it is good to state clearly that the agitation for rotational Governorship in Oyo state is as a result of political dominance which produced the marginalisation and exclusion of some regions from the scheme of things in Oyo State. Apart from Ogbomoso region which has produced late Akala in 2007, Ibadan has been the one producing the Governors in Oyo State since 1999 when the new political dispensation began.

It is also good to note that, Ibadan has 11 Local Government Areas, Oke-Ogun has 10 Local Government Areas, Ogbomoso has 5, Oyo has 4 and Ibarapa has 3 Local Government Areas. After Ibadan, Oke-Ogun has the highest number of Local Governments; but, since the creation of old and new Oyo State, it has never produced a governor. Oyo and Ibarapa have also never produced a governor and they are all stakeholders in the politics of Oyo State.

With all the points raised so far, the next salient question to ask is: what can be the justification for Senator Fatai Buhari’s call for the zoning of the Governorship seat to Oyo North instead of Oke-Ogun region? Well, a good reader of political statements will not be caught unaware that what Senator Buhari had in mind was that there is no difference between the three Local Governments of Ogbomoso and the ten Local Governments of Oke-Ogun.

But, it is good to say that the two regions are not the same. Oke-Ogun is Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso is Ogbomoso. The two of them are Yorubas but from different historical backgrounds.

In other words, within the same Yoruba race and language, the two regions have different histories, orientations, perspectives, idiosyncracies, intonation, etc.

During the First and Second Republic, Ogbomoso was classified as Osun 2 Senatorial constituency. It was not part of Oyo State at all. But, because of politics of unfairness, injustice and inequity, Ogbomoso was brought Oyo State to always slug things out with the regions it came to meet.

Then, it is good to put it on record that, despite the numerical advantage in favour of Oke-Ogun, her people have been magnanimous enough to vote for Senator Buhari on three good occasions to represent Oyo North Senatorial District; but, instead for Senator Buhari to be in the vanguard of the campaigning for an Oke-Ogun Governor in 2027 as a token of appreciation to Oke-Ogun, he is busy rolling out wrong and unfounded statistics to prove antiprogressive point with a view to supporting his Gubernatorial ambition.

Another thing to take up Senator Buhari concerning his submission that Oyo North Senatorial District must wait and watch out for the candidate Ibadan region will present before determining whether they could match such a candidate or not?

What a ridiculous, self-defeatist and demeaning assessment?

Answering Senator Fatai Buhari on this, it is good to say that good people are not the exclusive preserve of just one region. With this in mind, it is good to say that Oke-Ogun is blessed with different sons and daughters, in large numbers, who are eminently qualified to match any candidate from Ibadan region.

Put differently, as we have such qualified indigenes to be the Governor of Oyo State in Ibadan, so also we have in Oke-Ogun, Oyo, Ogbomoso and Ibarapa.

Therefore , on the final analysis, Senator Buhari’s interview calls for serious concerns. We can ask about where exactly he belongs on the advocacy for power rotation? The non-negotiable truth is that, God-willing, Oke-Ogun will produce the Governor of Oyo State in 2027. This is possible, achievable and doable and, the earlier the Senator flows with what God and the people of God want, the better.

With the statements he made in that interview, it is safe to conclude that he is not interested in the Oke-Ogun for Governor project, rather, his intention is to continue setting Oke-Ogun people against themselves for personal and selfish agenda.

We implore every sons and daughters of Oke-Ogun to shine their eyes and wise up.

Lastly, if Oke-Ogun is able to produce Governor in 2027, then hope would have started rising for other regions that had suffered marginalisation and exclusion in the Scheme of things in Oyo State, the Pace Setter State.

Olubadan Installs Adegoke Adebayo As Mogaji

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Akinloye Owolabi Ige Olakulehin I, has installed Chief Isiaka Adegoke Adebayo as the Mogaji Ile-Ayeye, Ibadan.

The ceremony took place on Monday at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.

The installation was performed in the presence of the Olubadan-In-Council and attended by dignitaries from all walks of life.

Recall that in Ibadanland, every compound has a Mogaji who may rise to become the Olubadan in the future in accordance with the Olubadan ascendancy arrangement of Ibadanland.

According to the Olori Ẹbi of Ile-Ayeye, Akọgun ‘Ṣegun Obe, the former Secretary General (2019-2023) of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) and former Secretary to the Local Government (1999-2002) of Ibadan North Local Government, he said Ayeye their ancestor was a warrior from Oyo-Ile (Old Oyo).

“He was one of the prominent warriors who opted to stay in Ibadan after the Owu war in 1810. After the Owu War, the warriors from Ifẹ, Oyo and some from Ijẹbu who fought in the war did not go back to their towns but opted to stay in Ibadan. Initially, they did not have the intention of starting a town, they just used the place as a hideout and camp where they normally come back to after their various expeditions. It was a war camp. Later the camp grew and a city evolved.

“They eventually picked Mayẹ, the head of the warriors from Ifẹ to be the overall head or Baalẹ. The choice of Mayẹ at the time was made possible because the warriors from Ife were more than others from other towns. The most prominent names of the warriors in Ibadan at that time were – Maye, Ege, Labọsinde, Oro, Sinunsin and Ogidi (who were warriors from Ifẹ and Ijẹbu), while the warriors from Ọyọ and Osun were Oluyedun, Oluyole, Babalola (Baba Fijabi), Ọdẹrinlọ (Baba Tanpe), Ọpẹagbe, Lakanlẹ, Toki, Olupoyi, Onibudo and Ayẹyẹ. Lamọdi is the head of the Ẹgba warriors that resides in Ibadan at that time.

“It was Ayeye that started the Ayeye market that is still at Ayeye Compound up till today. Mọgaji Yussuf Mogbọnjubọla was the last Mọgaji of Ile Ayeye. He became Mọgaji in the early 1950s and died on the 23rd January 1973. Since then, Ile Ayeye have not had another Mọgaji up till now when Mọgaji Isiaka Adegoke Adebayo was installed on Monday 16th June 2055. The Ayeye Dynasty consists of four sections; Mogbọnjubọla, Obe, Adebayọ and Alarape.”

The new Mogaji is from the Adebayọ Section of the Ayeye Dynasty. He’s a member of the prestigious Ibadan House of Lords an affiliate Club Member of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes.

NNPP’s Ajadi Says Nigeria Can’t Be a One Party State, Visits Olopoeyan in Ibadan

A South West Chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party, ( NNPP) Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has said that nobody can turn Nigeria to a one party State because according to him, Nigerians are too wise, too sophisticated to belong to only a political party.

Ajadi made this known while speaking with Journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday, when he paid a courtesy call on the Ibadan based grassroot politician, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeeyan.

He said if President Bola Tinubu refused to change the current narrative to favour the people, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will receive shock during the next election in 2027 from the opposition.

“It is not possible to have a one party system in Nigeria. A single person cannot change the country’s party system. We are a multi party State. I am very sure that by the next election something will happen, except President Bola Tinubu change the narrative positively to favour the masses”.

He said he decided to pay a courtesy call on Alhaji Olopoeeyan because he (Olopoeeyan) is his political leader and father

Speaking on the visit, Ajadi said, Alhaji Olopoeeyan has been calling on him to visit him in Ibadan, saying he heeded to that call on Tuesday.

Ajadi said, “I am surprised today that the whole discussion has been centred on a call on me to shift my politics to Oyo State. I am an Ibadan Indigene. My father is a known figure in Oja Igbo, in Ibadan North East Local Government.

“Alhaji Olopoeeyan admonished me to come to Ibadan, my home town to practice politics. He said though my Mum is from Ilaro in Ogun State, I should come to my state of origin to practice politics.

“You may want to ask how I feel about that. To me it didn’t make any difference, politics is about serving the people and I have interest in turning the son of nobody to somebody. I love to serve the masses.

“Politics is about serving the people. When you have the passion to serve, anywhere you are, you are good to go We have a lot to do and we keep doing our best for the people.

Also speaking Olopoeeyan, who is a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said that he dragged the former governorship candidate of the party in Ogun State, Ambassador Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, to Oyo State politics so that he can contribute to the development of his father’s land, Ibadan and his state of origin, Oyo.

On Tuesday, when Ajadi came visiting, Olopoeeyan said though he has returned to the PDP but will soon officially announce his return to the party in a funfair, adding that he wouldn’t know if his nephew, Ajadi would join his new party.

“But I think he has done enough politically and in terms of empowerment for the people on the side of his mother’s origin in Ogun.

“I believe he will follow me to wherever I am going. He has been a good sibling, a loyal party man in NNPP. We hardly disagree. I believe he will continue to go where I ask him to go politically.

“But he is an accomplished person in his own right; I can’t force my opinion on him. He will take his decision. But I said he has to come to Ibadan to help in building his father’s state too, after contributing to the development of Ogun where his mother hailed from.

“We are politicians, and I am not unmindful of the need for him to identify with his roots. He has been involved in many philanthropic activities in Yewaland and Ogun State in general. Let him help Ibadanland too. He is from Oja’gbo in Ibadan. We need him. He will tell me his decision,” Olopoeeyan said.

Orisunmibare, Ita Faaji, Opopin Residents Cry Out to Makinde Over Deplorable Roads

Residents of Orisunmibare/Ita Faaji Community in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State have appealed to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde to rescue them from unending agonies of bad community road, especially during the rainy season.

The community, located in Ido Local Government Area, falls within the Ido/Ibarapa Federal Constituency and Oyo South Senatorial District of Oyo state.

The residents made the appeal after experiencing daily heavy rainfalls consecutively for six days, since last Friday (Sallah Day) and which has rendered impassable the only road serving the community from the Wire and Cable end of the Apata-Abeokuta Road.

Speaking with newsmen on Friday, leaders of the 22 communities that made up the Orisunmibare/Ita Faaji/Oganla/Alada/Opopin Community appealed to Governor Makinde to come to their aid and redeemed the pledge he made to construct the road.

They particularly reminded the governor of the electoral campaign promise he made to the community in the build up to the 2019 elections as well as a report that the road has been put in the 2025 budget of the state.

Chairman of Otu Alaafia Estate Landlords’ Association, Alhaji Ganiyu Are, said: “We want to make a passionate appeal to our amiable governor, His Excellency, Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde, to come to our rescue in Orisunmibare/Ita Faaji/Oganla/Opopin Community.

“It is true that the only road serving the community has never been tarred in the history of Ido Local Government Area and Oyo State.

“What we have been having since several years back is grading of the road which stopped about five years ago. But this has even turned out to be a curse for us as persistent heavy rainfalls over the years have washed away several layers of sand on the road.

“We have suffered several years of agonies, depravity and abandonment as successive administrations have turned deaf ears to our appeals to get the road constructed with asphalt.

“We thus heaved a big relief and we were grateful when we heard it on good authority that His Excellency, Governor Makinde, has listed our road in the 2025 Oyo State Budget and approved the construction of the road.

“Our dear governor, we are already in the second half of 2025. Kindly come to our aid and redeem your pledge to construct our road. We know that you are a man of honour and that you will remember us for good in our community.”

Also speaking, chairman of Gbogun Community Landlords’ Association, Mr Yomi Olaniyi, reminded Mr Governor of his promise, noting that the governor will surely get the road constructed.

“Your Excellency sir, we know that you are a talk-and-do governor. We have seen what you have been doing in the last six years in respect of road constructions and reconstructions in many parts of Ibadan and the entire state.

“Sir, we know that the task is enormous, even as the resources available to you is very meagre. But it takes an individual to effect a positive change in the lives of hundreds of thousands of a people.

“Several efforts have been made in the past to call the attention of our former governors to the deplorable state of the Orisunmibare/Ita Faaji/Oganla Road. But our appeals have fallen on deaf ears.

“Sir, the rains are here and we are just entering the heaviness of the rainfalls. Kindly save us from the agonies and nightmares of our impassable road, particularly at this time of the season,” he said.

In the same vein, Chairman of Orisunmibare Central Community Association, the umbrella body of the 22 communities in the area, Mr Olusola Awe, said the name of Governor Makinde will be written in gold if he can grant the residents their heart desire in respect of the road.

“Your Excellency sir, history has a way of recording human activities. You have already written your name in the positive side of history when we learnt that you have included our community road in the 2025 Budget for Oyo State.

“We were also aware that road construction engineers from the state Ministry of Works have variously visited our community for an on-the-spot assessment of the condition of our road.

“Going forward sir, your name will be written in gold, if you can take a further step and do what none of your predecessors has ever done. We will never forget you if our community and its residents can, for the first time, have a taste of good governance as exemplified by the Omituntun administration under your leadership.

“Sir, we shall forever be grateful to you, if you can remember us and save us from the perennial agonies engendered by the impassable situation of the Orisunmibare/Ita Faaji/Oganla/Opopin Road,” Mr Awe said.
