A youth group, Coalition of Oyo State Market Youth Forum, has declared its intention to employ every means possible to thwart Princess Folasade Nurudeen’s aspiration of becoming Iyaloja-General of Oyo State and Southwest region.
The group in a release jointly signed by its president, Comrade Sikiru Adetunji (popularly called Sikol) and Secretary, Comrade Iyiola Ajadi, insisted that Princess Nurudeen otherwise known as Abeo Osa has no relationship with traders in Oyo State prior to her recent outburst and unjust desperation for the position of Iyaloja-General.
The statement reads, “Inspite of several warnings from various leaders and associations in the state, we noticed the unwillingness in the attitude of Princess Nurudeen to give up illegal aspiration of forcing herself on over 2.5 million traders in Oyo State through the help of some rebellions among some associations lump together with traders by the last administration. We are youths, we have the responsibility of protecting our trade and our future and we shall do so with all our strengths.
“We shall stop the activities of the unknown association called Market Traders Association of Nigeria (MATAN) in Oyo State, we know those who invited MATAN, we also know their mission. Those who invited them to cause problem in the state are not traders but presenting themselves to politicians and corporate organizations as market leaders to exploit the unsuspected people.
“We challenge those in the market advisory council to lead a team comprising of state Commissioner for trade and industry, the chairman house committee on trade, commissioner for justice and security agencies to their shops, where they have their investments, show them the businesses they are into and why they want to remain with traders in the state. During the investigation both government and members of the public will know why Oyo State Market Advisory Council should be dissolved, of course this will put end to the crisis rocking traders associations in Oyo State.
“We shouldn’t forget that only a bastard will invite foreigners to take over his family’s inheritance, it’s easy for these people to lobby MATAN for Abeo’s immoral ambition, which they know can not be achieved but can cause disunity among traders in the state because they are not genuine traders, some are carpenters, bricklayers, food canteen operators.
“Our leaders have elected, ratified and sworn-in the Babaloja-General and Iyaloja-General of Oyo State before the rebellions and saboteurs collaborated with enemies from outside to disstabilize the state. The Babaloja-General of Oyo State is Alhaji Sunmaila Aderemi Jimoh, while Iyaloja-General of Oyo State is Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje and there is no controversy till date on their leadership. We shall protect the decision of our leaders who elected them and no stranger will be allowed to hijack our associations and businesses in the state.”
