Five opposition political parties on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State capital adopted the Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as their preferred candidate in this weekend’s general election.
The parties represented largely by their Gubernatorial candidates in the State said they were confident Tinubu’s presidency would unite Nigeria, develop its component parts and usher in greater prosperity for the nation and its people.
Four gubernatorial candidates of the parties that adopted Tinubu were Mr. Olaniyi Ajekiigbe of the Action Alliance; Mr. Mojeed Okedara of the African Action Congress (AAC); Dr. Kazeem Ayandoye of the Action Peoples Party (APP) and Engr. Tunde Olukade of the Booth Party.
The Young Peoples Party (YPP) State Chairman, Prince Adedeji Adeyemi who spoke on phone to the journalists was represented by his vice, Chief Adesola Adedeji at the conference.
The politicians who were guests of an Ibadan-born billionaire businessman and frontline promoter of Bola Tinubu presidency, Chief Dotun Sanusi spoke to journalists at a press conference in Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan.
Sanusi, it would be recalled had organized series of rallies in Ibadan for Tinubu’s presidential ambition. Some of the rallies included convergence at different times of the leadership and members of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN); Muslim groups in the State; vigilante, Soludero, landlords, OPC; among others aimed at promoting and supporting Tinubu’s presidential ambition.
The Candidates who spoke to journalists one after the other said Tinubu’s agenda for Nigeria was the best in terms of economic recovery, social inclusion, security of lives and property, quality education, qualitative health care delivery, youth and women empowerment and affordable housing for all, among others.
The gubernatorial candidate of the AAC, Okedara said, ‘I am giving my support to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and I have directed my people; our supporters to vote enmasse for Tinubu on Saturday because he shares our manifestos in terms of infrastructures, youth empowerment, education, health care delivery and security for all Nigerians.’
He continued: ‘the APC leaders have reviewed my manifestos online and they expressed willingness to adopt them in line with the APC agenda to transform Nigeria, so we are voting Tinubu and Kashim Shertima ticket on Saturday.’
The Booth party gubernatorial candidate, Okunade said he has directed his followers to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, ‘Bola Tinubu has fought tirelessly to sustain democracy in Nigeria and that made him to be the most appropriate for the presidency because he would enhance constitutional democracy and rule of law.’
In his contribution, the gubernatorial candidate, APP, Dr. Ayandoye said: ‘I am a pure Yorubaman and this contest is what Yorubas want because it is our turn.
‘Our support for Tinubu is beyond political party thing and I cannot support any other candidate except Asiwaju Bola Tinubu because of his verifiable records of achievements.
‘I am urging thousands of my supporters to adopt Tinubu and vote massively for him on Saturday,’ Ayandoye said.
The AA Gubernatorial Candidate, Ajekiiigbe said his party decided to support Tinubu because of his antecedents in Lagos as Governor and ‘I have also studied his manifesto and saw that it merged our agenda for the State.
‘Therefore, I am urging all our supporters to vote for Bola Tinubu to become the President-elect of Nigeria by February 25th, this weekend.’
The YPP Chairman whose position to adopt Tinubu was corroborated by his vice, said they have instructed all their polling agents to work for Tinubu and vote APC on Saturday because ‘ Tinubu’s presidency would unite Nigeria, develop its component party and usher in greater prosperity for our people.’
