The paramilitary wing of the National Orientation Agency also known as WAI Brigade has shown readiness to instill orderliness, discipline, nationalism and other moral etiquettes in the citizens in line with Act 64 of 2007 as it has been repositioned in the State for enhanced service delivery.
This was disclosed during one day retreat organised to broaden the capacity of the officers, by Prince Adesola Ayodele Sanda who is the Deputy State Director in charge of Local Government operations and special duties of the National Orientation Agency, Oyo state Directorate. He also doubles as the state co ordinator of Oyo state WAI Brigade command.
Prince Adesola Sanda revealed that WAI Brigade in the State is set for rebranding and with the training which will be continuous, he opines that the vision to bring out the best officers will soon be attained.
Sanda also reiterated that the repositioning will percolate down to the grassroots as WAI Brigade officers are present in all the 33 Local Government Areas of the State. The State Coordinator of WAI Brigade emphasised that it will not be a business as usual again as the recruitment process of officers into the Brigade will take a new dimension , leaving room for only educated and competent members.
Dr. Aremu Samuel Oyebisi of NSCDC who is the Guest Speaker exhorted the WAI officers to take the retreat as a stepping stone to better their lots. He also charged them to be more functional and discharge their primary roles with more efficiency.
Oyebisi spoke on the Ethics and Culture of voluntary service and why its imperative that they should not take their roles which includes intelligence gathering and curbing indiscipline with levity.
The Theme of the retreat is ” EVALUATING THE PARAMILITARY STRUCTURE AND MORAL IN VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATION, ( WAI BRIGADE ,A CASE STUDY ”
In a release made available by the media unit of the Agency, Prince Sanda stated that the retreat will serve as a leeway for interested new Secondary school members to be adopted into the system in order to expand its membership..
In his remark, the Ag State Commander of WAI Brigade, Moshood Waheed advised them to be more focused and fully make use of the knowledge they have imbibed from the training for better performance.
