The Onyendu Ndigbo (Igbo Leader) of Ibadanland and Oyo State, High Chief Alloy Obi, has congratulated Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, on his coronation as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Obi in a statement by his Media Office, said the presentation of staff of office to Oba Olakulehin by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is nothing but a welcome development and victory for all Ibadan people, stating that it validates the cherished tradition of Ibadan traditional system.
According to him, the pedigree of the new Olubadan as an administrator, politician and businessman put him in a good stead to step into the position of his forefathers, noting that by climbing the traditional ladder for over four decades Oba Olakulehin had garnered the requisite experience to be the new Olubadan of Ibadanland.
He then prayed that the coronation of Oba Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland will bring peace and prosperity to the ancient city while wishing him wisdom, good health and longevity on the throne of his forefathers.
Obi said, “On behalf of my family and the Ndigbo in Ibadanland, I wish to felicitate with Oba Olakulehin, on his coronation as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, which is a victory for all Ibadan sons and daughters as well as all the residents of the ancient city.
“I have no doubt that the new Olubadan had impeccable and unblemished records of service in the public and private sectors and with his pedigree climbing the Ibadan traditional line will excel in the royal and traditional duties.
“I pray to Almighty God to grant our reverred Baba, a very long peaceful reign. Amen.”
