A diaspora group, Oluyole Diamond Sisters’ Club UK, has said that its intervention in the Special Care Baby Unit, Adeoyo Maternity Specialist Hospital, Adeoyo, Ibadan of Oyo State, is to address equipment deficit so that their people at home can enjoy good healthcare services.
The group’s Secretary General, Alhaja Chief Mrs. Ramat Kikelomo Ojetola, who said the intervention is a tradition of service and support through the donation of multi-million naira medical equipments, said, “This gesture is not only part of our community social responsibility but also a reflection of our enduring commitment to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare delivery system in Ibadan and Oyo State at large”.
The Chairman, Oyo State Hospitals Management Board, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, while commending the group during the presentation of the items to the hospital on Thursday, said “The donation will significantly improve the patients’ experience”.
Fagbemi who called for more donations stated that the government can’t do everything. He also made demand for hotels for medical students and nurses from Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes and other stakeholders, noting that land is available for the project.
The items included Radiant Warmer, Phototherapy Machine, Suction Machine, Oxygen Concentrator, 2 digital neonatal scales, Pulse Oximeter, Angle Poise Lamp and 4 pcs of Bed Side Lockers.
Fagbemi admonished the hospital management and patients to make good use of the materials “to enable individuals seeking medical attention at the hospital to receive it with comfort and dignity”.
The President General of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Barrister Chief Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole, expressed delight at the usual gesture of the Oluyole Diamond Sisters’ Club UK for giving back to their town, saying, “This is an act of patriotism that will have long-lasting impacts on our community and as well improve the health care standard of the people”.
The permanent secretary for the Oyo State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Anifat Ibraheem expressed optimism that the gesture would have a positive effect on the lives of the residents.
The Chief Medical Director, Adeoyo Maternity Specialist Hospital, Dr. Adeniji Olanrewaju, lauded the group for the kindness, restated commitment to ensure that medical facilities were in good condition for the health benefit of patients.
