Oyo South Senatorial aspirant on the platform of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) and member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, on Tuesday led a high powered delegation on an on-the-spot assessment visit to Community High School, Ahoro Esiele, Ikoyi-Ile in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo state following the recent kidnapping incident that has thrown the community into fear and anxiety.
The federal lawmaker during the visit expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in parts of the state, insisting that urgent and decisive steps must be taken to safeguard residents from criminal elements.
Accompanying Olajide on the visit were Allied People’s Movement’s Oyo North senatorial aspirant, Shina Peller; Oyo state governorship aspirant of the party, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi; House of Representatives aspirant for Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency, Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola, alongside other party stakeholders and supporters.
The atmosphere around the affected community reflected grief, uncertainty and growing apprehension among residents, many of whom lamented the rising fear caused by recurring security threats within the axis.
Addressing community leaders, residents and journalists during the visit, Olajide described the incident as painful and unacceptable, stressing that innocent citizens must not be subjected to fear and trauma within their own communities.
According to him, insecurity has continued to threaten economic activities, education and social stability in several rural communities, thereby necessitating urgent collaboration among government, security agencies and local stakeholders.
“We cannot continue to allow criminal elements terrorize innocent citizens and destabilize our communities. Oyo State must remain safe and secure for everyone. The lives of our people are too precious to be sacrificed to insecurity and lawlessness,” he stated.
The lawmaker further advocated stronger intelligence gathering, community policing and technology driven security architecture capable of tracking criminal networks and preventing future occurrences.
Olajide noted that modern security challenges require proactive measures, including digital surveillance systems, communication tracking mechanisms and improved inter-agency collaboration among security institutions.
“As Chairman of the House Committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology and Cybersecurity, I strongly believe technology must play a central role in addressing kidnapping and violent crimes. We must strengthen intelligence systems and deploy modern tools capable of exposing and dismantling these criminal networks,” he added.
The federal lawmaker also commiserated with affected families and residents of the community, assuring them that their pains and concerns would not be ignored.
He equally called on security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and ensure that perpetrators of the criminal act are apprehended and brought to justice without delay.
Residents and community leaders who interacted with the delegation appealed for increased security presence within the area, particularly around schools and vulnerable rural settlements.
They expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of empathy, solidarity and responsive leadership at a difficult time for the community.
