The governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, has felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary, calling for greater unity, hope and collective commitment to national renewal.

Adekanmbi, in a statement issued on Thursday to mark the anniversary, commended Nigerians for their resilience and determination in the face of prevailing national challenges, saying citizens had continued to demonstrate faith in the unity and indivisibility of the country.

He noted that Nigeria had recorded significant achievements in the 66 years since independence, stressing that such accomplishments must be protected and built upon despite the difficulties confronting the nation.

The APM governorship candidate acknowledged the contributions of youths, elders, men and women across the country to Nigeria’s development, urging citizens to continue nurturing the spirit of togetherness needed to move the nation forward.

Adekanmbi also expressed concern over the economic difficulties facing Nigerians, particularly the rising cost of food, transportation and other essential commodities. He empathised with citizens affected by the challenges, while maintaining that there was still hope for a better Nigeria.

He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and actively participate in the democratic process, stressing the importance of citizens making informed choices based on the vision, competence and values presented by political parties and their candidates.

On Oyo State, Adekanmbi appealed to residents to continue supporting the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, saying, in his assessment, the government’s projects and programmes were contributing to the development of the state and strengthening its identity as the Pacesetter State.

“As the nation prepares for another round of elections next year, and in line with the articulated programmes of the APM, I urge the people to support and vote for all candidates of our great party to ensure the sustainability of the development Oyo State has witnessed in the last seven years,” he said.

The statement was signed by Yinka Oladoyinbo, Director of Communication and Spokesperson, Oyo State APM Governorship Campaign Council, and dated October 1, 2026.
