Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the sum of N312 million for the installation of 58 motorized boreholes across the 33 local government areas of the state.
The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Idowu Oyeleke, who broke the news on Wednesday said that the move would reduce deficit in water supply across the state. He stated that the project was initially awarded by the last administration towards the twilight of its tenure.
The project, he revealed was subsequently revoked by the present administration as a result of inadequacies which has to do with transparency, and accountability in the award of the contract.
He further said that the State Executive Council approved the termination and reawarding of the contract to another contractor.
