The Aare of Ibadanland, His Eminence, Alhaji (Dr.) Dawud Makanjuola Akinola (De-Damak), has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin.
Oba Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, reportedly joined his ancestors in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025 just two days after celebrating his 90th birthday.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Faysol Oluwakemi, the Aare described the late monarch as a revered traditional ruler whose short reign brought peace, pride, and unity to the people of Ibadanland.
“Oba Olakulehin was a monarch of rare grace, deeply admired for his humility, wisdom, and unwavering love for Ibadanland,” the Aare said. “Though his reign was brief, it upheld the cherished values of dignity, harmony, and ancestral heritage that define our land.”
He extended heartfelt condolences to the Olubadan-in-Council, the royal family, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), the Oyo State Government, and all sons and daughters of Ibadanland.
The Aare also prayed for divine guidance as the city prepares for the royal succession, urging for continued unity and adherence to tradition.
“May Ibadanland continue to flourish in unity and tradition,” the statement concluded.
