A distinguished son of Okepopo in Lagos State, Otunba Rotimi Ajanaku, a prominent politician and industrialist, has commended the initiators and organizers of the Okepopo Dynasties Health Walk for Unity.

He also extended his appreciation to three respected high chiefs of Okepopo—Chief Ibikunle Bailey (Oluwo Jakande of Lagos), Chief Tajudeen Durosinmi-Etti (Eti of Lagos), Chief Adeleye Ajanaku, (Araba of Lagos) and Prince Adedeji Akanbi Eshilokun, Chairman Okepopo Foundation – for their endorsement of this historic and groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering unity and rekindling ancestral ties.

In an official statement, Prince Adedeji Akanbi Eshilokun, the Paramount Chairman of Okepopo Foundation, announced that the Health Walk for Unity is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

He emphasized that the initiative was conceived to bring together all descendants of Okepopo, both at home and abroad, in a bid to strengthen communal bonds and reaffirm their shared heritage.

The event is expected to serve as a symbol of solidarity among the various family compounds of Okepopo, with massive participation anticipated from lineages such as Kabiawu, Ogboye, Ajose, Oshun, Fashina, Kenku, Ekeolere, and many others.

Beyond its symbolic significance, the Health Walk for Unity aims to promote not only physical well-being but also social cohesion among the sons and daughters of Okepopo. Every family compound has been encouraged to mobilize members to actively participate in the walk, marking a historic moment of togetherness and a renewed commitment to the values of their forebears.

The project has received full endorsement from three of the most respected figures in Okepopo, who have praised the initiative as a major step toward preserving the community’s rich cultural legacy and ensuring continued unity among its people.

Speaking on the importance of the initiative, Ajanaku stressed the need for Okepopo descendants to reconnect with their roots irrespective of their location.

“This health walk is not just an exercise; it is a call for unity, a reminder of our shared heritage, and a pledge to uphold the values of our forefathers,” the statement reads.

The event is expected to attract a diverse group of participants, including elders, youths and key community stakeholders, all coming together in solidarity to reaffirm their commitment to the progress and unity of Okepopo.
