ALLEGED LIBEL: Akwa Ibom INEC REC Igini, sues Edo APC chieftain for N10b

The Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini, has dragged the factional chairman of the Edo State All Progressives Congress, APC, David Imuse, and the chairman of the Osagie Ize-Iyamu campaign council in the September nineteen Edo governorship election, John Mayaki, before a Benin City High Court, demanding the sum of ten billion Naira over alleged libel.

He also demanded a full-page unreserved apology, to be published by the two people, in every edition of the Punch Newspapers, Tribune, Guardian, and Sun Newspapers for seven consecutive times.

Igini wants the public apology to commence not later than seven days after the judgement of the case.

According to Mike Igini through his counsel, on August 30, 2020, during the just concluded governorship election campaigns, the APC factional chairman and the chairman, Edo State APC Media Campaign Council, addressed journalists at a press conference titled, Press conference on Governor Godwin Obaseki’s criminal attempt to infiltrate the Independent National Electoral Commission through, INEC, officers like Mike Igini in Auchi in Etsako West local government area.

Igini has however denied all the allegations leveled against him at the press conference.
