The Coordinator of Oodu’a Peoples Congress (OPC) in Oyo State, Rotimi Olumo, on Sunday, said the National Coordinator of the group worldwide, Gani Adams, has no constitutional right to replace him.
He stated that he isn’t aware about his alleged replacement, noting that the group has its rules and regulation before taking any step.
Recall that Olumo said he was no longer having anything to do with the national coordinator, Adams, noting that he has no reason for being with a leader that doesn’t trust him.
It was gathered that the National Executive Council and the National Coordinating Council of the group announced the replacement of Osun State coordinator of the group, Adedeji Aladesawe, with another chieftain, Adeyemi Aboderin for allegedly collecting N35 million from the President-elect, Bola Tinubu to mobilise support for him in the build-up in the last presidential election.
Also, his counterpart in Oyo, Adams has allegedly been replaced based on the same allegation.
Olumo, while reacting to the alleged replacement in a press briefing in Ibadan, said “The National Coordinator of the group alleged me and my Osun counterpart of collecting N35 million from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to mobilise support for him during the last election.
“I decided to part ways with Adams over unsubstantiated claims that I was accused of alongside my colleague from Osun.
“Aare Adams used to be my good leader who I trusted so much, he used to be someone I could do anything for, but it was quite unfortunate that my trust for him was betrayed.
“I actually don’t have anything personal against him but there is no point being with a leader that doesn’t trust someone. This is so annoying and painful!
“Trust is so important in any relationship! This is one of the most important and sensitive decisions of my life.” He stated.
Sequent to these effects, Olumo stated that their counterparts in Ekiti and Osun states might also be replaced for similar allegation.
“The constitution of the our organization requires that any hearing officer at the state level should be personally called by the National Coordinator on one-on-one discussion on any allegation, in which he/she can be served query if the Coordinator is not satisfied with his findings. Then after, committee would be set up to investigate any alleged matter and find out the authenticity of the allegation.
“It is after that he has the right to call a Congress that has right to pass vote of no confidence on the affected member(s)”, Olumo added.
He further lamented that Adams didn’t follow due process before announcing the replacement of the state coordinators, adding that his actions weren’t democratic.
“It is imperative to ask the National Coordinator this important and sensitive questions to clear the air on the allegations; where was the alleged money collected and through which medium was it paid?
“I have neither met Tinubu in person nor anyone that is close to him. I have been wondering where Iba Gani Adams got the information of me collecting N35m for Asiwaju’s campaign. Even if such money were to be given, it couldn’t have been given to the state coordinators.”
