The senator, representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sharafadeen Alli, has disowned a fraudulent empowerment being perpetrated by some people, using his name.
Alli, warned members of the public to beware of such programme, noting that he has no connection whatsoever with such activities.
He made this known on Sunday in a disclaimer by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas.
He added that he never authorised anyone to demand for money on his behalf for such purposes.
“It has come to our attention that someone has been using the name of our principal, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, to defraud people on the pretext of providing empowerment opportunities.
“Please be informed that Senator Sharafadeen Alli is not involved in any such activities. He has not authorised anyone to demand money on his behalf for such purposes.
“We strongly advise the public to be wary of individuals who claim to represent Senator Sharafadeen Alli in any capacity related to empowerment activities,” it was stated in the disclaimer.
The senator further advised his constituents to report to the appropriate authorities anybody who is demanding for money or financial contributions in connection with such empowerment opportunities.
“Any demand for money, financial contributions or other favours in connection with such activities should be reported to the appropriate authorities,” it was stated.
The federal lawmaker however reaffirmed his commitment to serving his constituents, with honesty and integrity.
He also made it known that he will not condone any form of fraudulent activity that may be perpetrated by anybody, using his name.
“Senator Sharafadeen Alli remains committed to serving the people of his constituency and the country at large with honesty and integrity.
“He will not condone any form of fraudulent activity in his name or otherwise. Thank you for your cooperation,” Abas added in the disclaimer.
