To lessen the burden of needs on orphans and the less privileged, the senator-elect for Oyo South under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Sharafadeen Alli has donated food items to the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Oyo State chapter Orphanage home.
The items including bags of rice, cartoons Noodles, toiletries, cartoons of beverages, packs of sugar, detergent, crates of eggs were formally presented by Alli to the Orphanage home on Tuesday.
Maye Balogun of Ibadanland said the largesse is one of his ways to partner with orphans and the less privileged.
He appreciated the management of the Orphanage home for their efforts at taking good care of the children under them despite the cost implication, describing it as humanitarian work.
He said, “This is not a new thing, I have been doing this for a long time. I believe one of the ways of passing things across to the people is to consolate the less privileged with whatsoever God has given to me.
“It’s our little way of partnering with the less privileged in the society having recognised the need for us to assist those who are in need of our support.
“I am using this medium to appeal to the people to come to the aid of these children. Many of these women taking good care of these children are retired and they sometimes use their personal money to take care of them.”
He assured that he would take the orphans, less privileged and people living with disabilities very serious when he resumes the Red chamber.
Speaking on behalf of the Orphanage home, Oyo State President of FOMWAN, Alhaja Bisi Oloso applauded the senator-elect for the gesture, especially at this critical period.
She described Alli as a free giver, adding that he has always been keep to his promises and so reliable.
While stating the challenges they are facing, Oloso appealed to those that are well-to-do in the society to identify with the Orphanage home.
