The Anglican Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion in Ondo state, has commended the Elese of Ilese-Ijebu in the Ijebu North East local government of Ogun state, His Royal Majesty, Oba Oluremi Obayomi, for conferring on its Chancellor, Otunba Kunle Kalejaye, SAN (KSC), the title of “Asiwaju of Ilese Ijebu”, describing it as gratifying.
It will be recalled that the monarch last Saturday in Ilese Ijebu during the 2024 Ilese Day celebration, pronounced the legal icon as ‘Asiwaju Ilese Ijebu’ following his sterling leadership roles in the socio-economic development of the town. Kalejaye has been the Chairman of the Ilese Development Council for years.
At a ceremony attended by a former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, now Senator representing Ijebu East district, Oba Obayomi said that he knew Kalejaye to be Asiwaju Onigbagbo of his church already, but he was inspired by his leadership qualities over the years that he decided to confer on him the title of “Asiwaju Ijebu Ilese”.
In a congratulatory message sent to Kalejaye signed by The Rt. Rev. Joshua Sunday Oyinlola, dated 15th August, 2024, the Irele Ese Odo Diocese, Anglican Communion, Ode Irele, Okitipupa in Ondo State, expressed great delight in the honour bestowed Kalejaye, the Diocesan Chancellor.
While appreciating the Elese for the well-thought-out decision, the Diocese congratulated the legal icon and Knight of St. Christopher, Sir Kunle Kalejaye, saying that “the news was received with great joy and immense gratitude to the Almighty God.
Having rejoiced with Kalejaye and his entire family, the Diocese said: “Your selfless service to humanity has earned you this new designation of honour. As the Asiwaju of both the Church and Community at large, we pray that God will sustain you and grant you His wisdom and enabling grace to to lead the people.
May God continue to bless you and the entire household richly. Amen. Congratulations!”, the Diocesan Bishop prayed on behalf of the Diocese.
