The Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Sunday night, announced an emergency National Executive Council meeting.
According to a press release signed by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary – Yekinni Nabena via his Twitter account, the APC fixed the meeting for Tuesday 8th December 2020.
Having failed to deliver on its mandate, this paper understands that Gov. Mai Mala Buni-led committee will seek for a tenure extension at the NEC meeting.
Recall the caretaker Committee was set up by the NEC of the party on June 25 2020 with a mandate to reconcile aggrieved stakeholders of the party and also conduct a national convention within six months.
According to tweets from Nabena, a formal invitation had been sent to APC NEC members by the National Secretary of the Party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe. The NEC meeting is expected to review the party’s position and set agenda for the party’s next move.
In line with the COVID-19 public health protocols, the APC NEC meeting will be virtual.
“Login details will be sent to APC NEC members in due course. The meeting is slated for 11am at the Council Chamber, State House, Abuja” Nabena tweeted.
