The South West chapter of the APC Support Groups Council (APC-SGC) has called for stronger grassroots mobilisation and greater collaboration among support groups ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Deputy Director-General of the APC-SGC South West, Ambassador Adewale Adeogun, made the call on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at a zonal press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The conference, which had as its theme, “Need for Grassroots Mobilization in the South West by Support Groups in APC Towards 2027 General Election,” also featured the introduction of the South West edition of the Renewed Hope Unity Cup Football Competition for Primary Schools in Nigeria.
Adeogun said the APC-SGC, as the umbrella body of recognised APC support groups across the six South-West states, had since 2022 remained at the forefront of sensitisation, voter education and grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates at the federal, state and local government levels.
He explained that the council’s activities extended beyond electioneering, noting that it had embarked on various community-based programmes, including empowerment initiatives for women, youths and artisans through skills training, micro-grants and business support tools.
According to him, the council also introduced the National Primary Schools Football Tournament as part of its efforts to discover young talents, promote unity among pupils and mobilise parents and teachers across the South West and Nigeria.
Adeogun said the council had also sustained voter education and issue-based campaigns aimed at deepening citizens’ understanding of the APC-led administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He commended the APC national leadership for the formation of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), expressing optimism that the APC-SGC would enjoy stronger collaboration and partnership with the council ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Deputy Director-General also appreciated APC-led governments at the federal, state and local government levels for what he described as achievements in infrastructure, social development, economic reforms and youth development.
He, however, appealed to the APC and governments at all levels to give the South West APC Support Groups Council greater recognition and political patronage, stressing that support groups remained critical stakeholders in grassroots mobilisation.
Adeogun specifically called for increased support and collaboration for the council’s empowerment programmes to enable it sustain and strengthen its grassroots structures.
He assured that the APC-SGC South West would work closely with the Presidential Campaign Council and other relevant stakeholders to mobilise massive support for President Tinubu and other APC candidates across the South-West zone.
“We shall ensure massive mobilisation through strategic engagement with the people of the South West, while showcasing the various achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his genuine intentions towards pulling the country out of economic crisis, addressing infrastructural decay and insecurity, and driving progress and development,” he said.
Adeogun maintained that the council’s mobilisation efforts would be anchored on the programmes and policies of the Renewed Hope Agenda, urging members and supporters to remain committed to the APC.
He added: “To whom much is given, much is expected. Rewarding the base is investing in the future of the APC.”
He reaffirmed the loyalty of the South West APC Support Groups Council to the party and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
