A renowned businessman and All Progressives Congress(APC) chieftain in Oyo State, Dr.Olusola Ayandele has described the death of Oba Saliu Adetunji, the Olubadan of Ibadanland as a huge loss.
Ayandele in a statement signed by his Personal Assistant, Olusola Adeleke, described the late Olubadan as courageous and humane traditional ruler.
It would be recalled that the 93-year-old traditional ruler died at the University College Hospital (UCH) in the early hours of Sunday during an illness.
Oba Adetunji, the 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland, ascended the throne of his forefathers on March 4, 2016.
The APC Senatorial hopeful said that he received the death of the late Oba Adetunji as a rude shock, describing it as painful and sad.
He said that the late traditional ruler was a successful businessman before he ascended the throne, adding he was a benefactor to many in his lifetime.
Ayandele said that the late traditional ruler as an epitome of humility, integrity and selfless leader, who during his lifetime supported the progress of all.
“The late Olubadan was a father and pillar of support to everything meaningful and progressive. He was a successful businessman, who impacted so many lives.
“It is God who giveth and taketh. We least expected that our Baba will go now, but who are we to question God. We take solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life,” he said.
The Ibarapa-born politician condoled with the wife (Olori), the children and the good people of the state on the irreparable loss.
He prayed that God forgive Oba Adetunji’s shortcomings and grant his soul eternal rest.
Ayandele also prayed that God grant his family, Oyo State Council of Obas, the good people of Oyo State and Yorubaland fortitude to bear the loss.
