Daily Independent Correspondent, Adebayo Raji Loses 93-Year-Old Mother, Ramat Raji

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Oyo State Council, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaja Ramat Raji, mother of Daily Independent Correspondent in Oyo state, Mr. Adebayo Raji, who died at the age of 93.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council, Mr. Akeem Abas, and the Secretary, Temidayo Adu, the union described the death of the matriarch as a painful loss not only to the immediate family but also to friends, associates and the journalism family in Oyo State.

The Council noted that losing a mother, irrespective of age, often creates a vacuum that remains difficult to fill, considering the unique role mothers play in shaping lives, building values and providing unwavering support to their children and families.

Oyo NUJ acknowledged the remarkable age attained by the deceased and described her life as worthy of gratitude and celebration, having witnessed generations and contributed meaningfully to the growth and stability of her family and community.

While commiserating with Mr. Adebayo Raji and the entire Raji family over the painful loss, the Council urged them to take solace in the impactful life and good legacy left behind by the late Alhaja Ramat Raji.

The union prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the deceased and asked Almighty Allah to grant the family the strength, comfort and fortitude needed to bear the irreparable loss.
