EACOED COEASU Lauds Makinde Over Stoppage of Provost Tenure Extension

The leadership of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo Chapter has commended the Oyo State Governor, His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE for towing a line of honour by being just in his directive that the outgoing Provost of the College, Dr. Rasak Adetunji Adefabi should end his two-term tenure on May 15, 2022 as stipulated in his letter of appointment.

In a release signed by the COEASU Chairman, Comrade Olusegun Oyewumi, the Union acknowledged a quick response to its call on the Governor to wade in on plan by the Provost, Dr. Rasak Adetunji Adefabi to lobby a tenure extension after the expiration of his tenure by Sunday, May 15, 2022.

According to him, “I wish to on behalf of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo Chapter appreciate the people’s Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, FNSE for heeding to the calls made by members of our union on the proposed tenure elongation by Dr. Rasak Adefabi. We specially thank Your Excellency for towing a path of justice which is by upholding the law governing the College. You have by this shown us that you are a listening Chief Executive in the Pace-Setting State and this shall remain indelible in the history of our College. God bless you Sir.”

It would be recalled that members of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo Chapter on Thursday, April 28, 2022 staged a peaceful demonstration against the proposed extension of the tenure of the College Provost, Dr. Rasak Adetunji Adefabi by the Governing Council.

The Governing Council had recommended a one-year extension for Dr. Adefabi which was expected to be approved by the Governor before it was disapproved.
