As Muslims all over the world celebrate the end of Ramadan fast today, an Ibadan based businessman and politician, Rotimi Ajanaku, has urged Muslims in Nigeria not to relent in offering prayers to Almighty Allah for the nation.
In his message to Muslims in Oyo State and Nigeria in general, Ajanaku described this year’s Muslims 30 days prayer and fasting period as relatively peaceful and equally economic rewarding.
He said, “I congratulate all Muslims as they celebrate the end of Ramadan fast today world over, especially my good people in Oyo State. I pray Almighty Allah rewards all their supplications and make Nigeria great again.
“One thing I noticed during the holy month of Ramadan is that the nation enjoyed relative peace and progress, in actual fact, I was not surprised to hear the news of border opening. I considered this as an act of God and also as an indication that God is really answering His people’s prayers.
“In my own opinion, God is good to us in Nigeria and until we learn to live together in peace and harmony we can never enjoy the fullness of God’s favour, grace and mercy. This year’s Ramadan and Lent collided for a purpose beyond our comprehension. It forced both religions’ faithfuls to be in sober mood in the same period to seek God’s intervention over security and economic issues threatening the peaceful coexistence of citizens of this great country.
“If we weigh what we have enjoyed in the last few weeks and compare it with past years you will agree with me that the rate of killings, economic sabotage, hardship and insecurity reduced drastically. So, I don’t think I would be wronge to request the leaderships of Islamic and Christian religions to encourage their followers to keep devoting time to prayer and fasting to completely change the fortune of this country for good.
Meanwhile, Ajanaku has also pointed out that masses, especially the electorates should not hang the responsibility of making Nigeria great again on the shoulders of politicians but see it as collective responsibility of every citizen, especially those within the voting age bracket.
“If Nigeria will be great again it is the responsibility of us all, especially the electorates, those within voting age bracket, it’s not the sole responsibility of the politicians. Election is coming early next year, everyone that ought to have voter’s card should endeavour to obtain it now. As we are praying God to help return normalcy to our state and nation, we should also carry out our civic responsibility. It is by doing this that we can use our cards to vote candidates of our choice to power,” Ajanaku advised.
