Eze (Dr.) James Oramadike, the Eze Ndi Igbo of Ibadan and Yorubaland, has congratulated Oba Abimbola Owoade on his appointment as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo by Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oramadike described Oba Owoade’s appointment as a significant moment in Yoruba history, marking the continuation of the revered Alaafin dynasty.
He expressed confidence in the monarch’s ability to uphold the rich cultural heritage of the Oyo Empire and foster unity among diverse ethnic groups in the region.
The Igbo leader commended Governor Makinde for ensuring due process in the selection of the new Alaafin, emphasising that the choice of Oba Owoade reflects wisdom, integrity, and commitment to the progress of Oyo.
Oramadike also acknowledged the role of traditional institutions in promoting peace and development across Yorubaland.
He prayed for a peaceful and prosperous reign for the new Alaafin, urging him to work towards strengthening harmony among all ethnic groups residing in Oyo and beyond.
The Igbo leader pledged the continued support and cooperation of the Igbo community towards the progress of the ancient kingdom.
Oramadike expressed hope that Oba Owoade’s leadership would bring positive transformation.
