Pupils in Oyo state secondary schools will benefit from a sustainable roofing initiative, aimed at providing the needed sustainable solution to roofing challenges.
Principal partner in the initiative, Otunba Gbolahan Aigoro, who is an environmental sustainable development practitioner from the University of Ibadan Centre for Sustainable Development Practice, said that already, pupils at Lagelu Grammar School, Ibadan have taken part in an entrepreneurship skills acquisition and training programme.
He said, “The green innovation school challenge is an initiative of the IMAGES Africa, directed at inculcating the culture of caring for the environment in our youngsters while also promoting amongst them the much needed entrepreneurship skills.
“In this project, we are collaborating with Plusworld roofing company in the provision of technical support and training for the students of Lagelu Grammar School in roof restoration. We also plan to provide the training in a number of selected schools in the state.
“At Lagelu, the students have been able to redirect their youthful energies in learning how to provide the much needed sustainable solution to the roofing challenges observable in their immediate environment.”
Plusworld managing director, John Igbaifua, said already, some schools in Lagos have benefitted from the initiative. He added that the free roofing training would be introduced to more states before the end of the first quarter of 2021.
