The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHADMSD) has discovered that Nasarawa State Program Manager of National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP) ‘name witheld’ who is an appointee of the state government has been inserting fake schools and cooks into the NHGSFP, thus collecting huge sums for non existing vendors.
FMHADMSD noted that based on the active monitoring of the project task team, the suspect was apprehended and thereafter reported to the Governor of the State.
A statement by one of the Monitoring Lead of the NHGSFP, Marcus Williams which was made available to journalists said Nasarawa State Governor has suspended the State program manager and referred the matter to law enforcement, adding that investigation is on going.
Williams lamented that despite the offence, preliminary findings revealed that some members of the Nasarawa State Government allegedly trying to reinstate the suspended program manager, adding that FMHADMSD resisted and requested for certificate of clearance from law enforcement.
“We want to state that FMHADMSD discovered the fraud and not Nasarawa State Government as being projected in the media and the suspect has not been reinstated.
“A new Permanent Secretary has been appointed by the Nasarawa State Government, the suspect deprived genuine beneficiaries their right to nutrition and education thereby violating this right as enshrined in the CRL of Nasarawa State 2005.”
He however urged people to support the efforts of the Federal Government through FMHADMSD to give children the best education and nutritional support by reporting any comprise, fraud, and misrepresentation of the NHGSFP.
