Group To Kickstart Monitoring of Home -grown School Feeding Programme

A group, Living Word Mission, has said it would commence monitoring of the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme across Oyo State.

 

The group stated that it is to ensure the successful social protection program of the Federal Government through the Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

 

They maintained it’s to achieve effective programme management, service delivery, accountability, learning through participatory monitoring, evaluation of school feeding, routine information gathering on national and State, LGA performances which must be conducted.

 

A statement by the Coordinator of the group in the state, Mr. Marcus Williams said the initiative is in line with national standards which the people should take advantage of the lessons learnt from pilot activities and interventions.

 

They stated that the group has identified some core strategies towards the success of the monitoring outreach.

 

He noted that the steps are for Development and implementation of the NHGSFP monitoring frameworks which are to be domesticated in the State and LGAs, refinement of critical indicators, the newly prioritization of the areas of nutrition, local economic development, capacity enhancement and stakeholders’ involvement, identification and adoption of innovative tools and techniques for encouraging multi-stakeholders’ involvement in monitoring, evaluation of other review activities, promotion of review efforts by partners, collaborations and relevant stakeholders to provide multi-perspective insights into the progress of school feeding and enhance accountability.

 

Other are: organizations of the collaborative learning activities with other parties, particularly non-governmental and civil society and international development organization, preparatory work prior to conduct of monitoring and evaluation includes, reviewing and updating the School Feeding Programme Monitoring and evaluation System to be in line with national formats and best practice requirements.

 

“Building relevant staff capacity for monitoring and evaluation at the national, State and LGA levels,  communicating and building capacities for the required reports from the LGA, State and National levels, developing mechanisms for collating and harmonizing relevant monitoring and evaluation information from related agencies.”

 

Williams noted that the method of reporting includes Intra programme and parallel reporting mechanism using the National Home-Grown School Feeding Reporting Tool (NHGSFPRT).
