A leading Senatorial aspirant for Oyo Central Senatorial District, Alhaji Ademola Wasiu Alli Ph.D, has pledged to prioritise rural development, adequate representation and transparency if elected into the National Assembly.
He stated that he has everything it takes through his experiences and the support of the people to represent the Senatorial district.
Speaking during a “Hot Seat” interactive session with newsmen at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Saturday, Alli reeled out his legislative agenda, political philosophy and readiness to serve, drawing from over three decades of experience in Federal Civil Service.
The aspirant, who described himself as a grassroots politician with deep ties to rural communities, emphasised that his ambition is driven by a desire to bridge developmental gaps affecting areas in Oyo Central.
The philanthropist also defended his decision to pursue a legislative role despite his extensive background in the executive arm of government, explaining that the legislature offers broader opportunities to influence national policies.
Highlighting the challenges facing Oyo Central, Alli identified inadequate infrastructure, unemployment, and rural-urban migration as key issues requiring urgent attention.
He proposed increased investment in agricultural extension services, youth skills development, and policies that encourage private sector participation in job creation.
“We need to empower our farmers, create opportunities for our youths, and ensure that development is not concentrated only in urban centres,” he said.
The aspirant further assured that he would leverage his experience within government institutions to attract federal projects and hold agencies accountable.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of NUJ Oyo state Council, Comrade Akeem Abas, stated that the Union is apolitical and ready to give platform to all the politicians from all the parties to tell the people about their plans.
The interactive session had in attendance journalists and political observers, who engaged the aspirant on issues ranging from governance, accountability, campaign strategy and legislative priorities.
