Traditional stakeholders in Ibadanland, including, Mogajis, Baales, monarchs, ICPI as well as market men and women, sons, and daughters of the ancient city, have congratulated Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe on his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the new Minister of Power.
The stakeholders described Tegbe’s appointment as well deserved, expressing confidence that he would perform optimally given his pedigree, professional track record, and antecedents in public service.
A statement by the Coordinator of the Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI), Mogaji Dr. Nurudeen Akinade, said the appointment gladdened the hearts of Ibadan traditional institutions, especially because Tegbe is himself a Mogaji.
According to Akinade, the people of Ibadan view the appointment as recognition of the city’s contributions to national development and a call to further service.
He added that Tegbe’s elevation reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to competence and inclusion.
He said that Ibadan people will replicate President Tinubu’s gesture when the time comes, noting that the traditional leadership structure in the city is solidly behind Tegbe and will support him to succeed in his new national assignment.
The ICPI coordinator, however, cautioned individuals and groups opposing Tegbe’s appointment to desist from divisive actions. He urged all indigenes and residents to unite and work for the common goal of Ibadanland’s development.
The stakeholders prayed for a successful tenure for Tegbe and expressed optimism that his leadership would address challenges in the power sector, improve electricity supply, and accelerate key infrastructure projects across the country.
