The standoff between the Oyo State Government and the workers of the six state-owned tertiary institutions took another turn on Wednesday as members of the Joint Action Forum of Non-academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated institutions have rejected a negotiation team setup by the Oyo State Joint Action Committee of all staff unions.
This is contained in a decision extract released by Secretary of NASU JAF – Comrade Oyeniji Oyewale after a meeting of the leadership of the Unions from The Polytechnic, Ibadan; Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa; Emmanuel Alayande college of Education, Oyo; The Oke-ogun Polytechnic, Saki; Oyo State College of Agriculture, Igboora and Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate.
The forum declared that the JAC of the six state tertiary institution that negotiated the new minimum wage with the Oyo State Commissioner for Education on 22nd December, 2020 has no locus standi to do so on behalf of the statutory Unions because a vote of no confidence has been passed on the leadership of the committee.
