Hon. Akinmoyede Olafisoye Wasiu has emerged victorious in today’s primary election conducted by the All Progressives Congress for the Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, securing the party’s ticket for the Federal House of Representatives in 2027 general elections.
The incumbent lawmaker, popularly known as “Lafi,” defeated his two main rivals, Hon. Sulaiman Hamidu Ajibade and Hon. Danladi Ajao Wasiu, by a wide margin following a peaceful voting process.
Party members across the 26 wards in Akinyele and Lagelu local government areas turned out in large numbers to cast their votes.
Observers noted the orderly and enthusiastic atmosphere at the polling centers, as constituents rallied behind the lawmaker who is currently serving his first term in the National Assembly.
Speaking with journalists after the announcement, the elated party members who expressed immense satisfaction with the outcome, emphasized that their decision to return Hon. Akinmoyede was a direct reflection of his performance and dedication over the last few years.
“Our decision to support him is based on his proven capacity for effective representation and his unwavering commitment to party unity,” one constituent stated.
Others praised his track record, highlighting his focus on community engagement and his robust empowerment programmes, which have remained top priorities throughout his tenure.
While addressing party members at Ward 7 Lalupon after the election, Hon. Lafi expressed profound gratitude to them for their support and confidence they reposed in him.
He called on other aspirants to join hands with him in the interest of unity, progress and victory for the party in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
