ABUJA – Nigeria is grappling with a potentially destabilizing leadership crisis as President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima are currently out of the country.
President Tinubu began a two-week working vacation on October 3, while Vice President Shettima departed for Sweden on Wednesday for a two-day official visit.
Meanwhile, Senate President Godswill Akpabio faces an impeachment plot, further complicating the situation.
In another development, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has been missing in action for three weeks, sparking concerns about national security.
The combined absence of the President, Vice President, and Senate President has raised concerns about a leadership vacuum.
“Nigeria is currently rudderless, with no clear direction or leadership,” a political analyst noted.
The situation has sparked fears about the stability of the government, particularly amidst Nigeria’s volatile security situation.
