The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan has appealed to all residents of Oyo State to be tolerant of one another especially in issues bothering on religion.
Engineer Olaniyan made this plea on Sunday, during the 2021 Harvest of Thanksgiving Bazaar of St. Benedict Catholic Church Odo-Ona Kekere where he was Father of the Day/Special Guest of Honour.
The state Deputy Governor stressed that it is necessary to live together peacefully especially when Nigeria is holding on to a thin thread and tension could rise and spark crisis adding that all should avoid inflammatory action or statements that can heat up the polity.
He called for peaceful coexistence among the tribes of Nigeria, stating that “we are a people and should live together as such while creating enabling room for one another to thrive”.
He encouraged all to worship God in their actions, adding that love should be shown to the people around us, regardless of how we worship God, we should reach out to the people around us and meet their needs to the best of our capacity.
He charged the Christians to emulate the life of Christ and live according to the tenets of Christ as all was created in his likeness.
The Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Fintan Daly appreciated the State deputy Governor for coming adding that he is an example of the peaceful coexistence he is preaching as he, being a Muslim attended the Christian event and as a Yoruba man, he speaks Igbo.
He prayed that the country will keep witnessing peace and any thing that will threaten the peace of the country and the state will be not be encouraged at their local assembly.
