Makinde Approves Nomination of Lekan Balogun As New Olubadan, To Officially Announce On Monday

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has stated that he would officially announce Senator Lekan Balogun as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland on Monday.

He stated this at the farewell service in honour of late 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, held at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

This confirms his approval as the next Olubadan of Ibadan land.

Eulogising the late Olubadan, Makinde said he was a bridge builder, a good listener, level headed monarch with right judgment and traditionally intelligence.

He, however noted that he has received an official correspondence from the Olubadan-in-Council, on who the next Olubadan will be.

He therefore said the choice of the next Olubadan will be in the best interest of the traditional institution in the ancient city, saying that his government would sustain the trend of development laid down by the late manarch.

“This is another victory for the Ibadan Traditional institution. We didn’t have to wait for months before appointing a new monarch, like some other towns”, he said.

The event was witnessed by top government functionaries, prominent Ibadan indigenes, Monarchs from neighbouring towns, clerics.
