Nigerian Breweries Plc to commission 663.6kwp solar power plant

The Nigerian Breweries Plc will on Thursday commission a 663.6kwp solar power plant for its Ibadan Breweries Plc.

The NB Plc, in a statement on Monday said the 663.6kwp solar power plant recently installed in its Ibadan Brewery, was a historic milestone to the company’s green ambition to transit from conventional electricity to 70% renewable energy in all its breweries by 2030.

According to the company, “the solar power plant is a fully financed purchase agreement with Cross Boundary and TOPEC Nigeria designed to supply 800Mwh energy to the Ibadan Brewery annually while reducing CO2Ā emissions by over 10,000 tonnes over the lifespan of the plant.

“In line with our corporate strategy on sustainability under the HEINEKEN Brewing a Better World framework, Nigerian Breweries Plc is committed to investing in such innovative solutions to reduce the industrial carbon footprint and lead the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy.

“To underscore the significance of this ground-breaking initiative which supports the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 7) on access to affordable and clean energy in Oyo State, we are delighted to schedule the event for Thursday May 6, 2021 at Ibadan Brewery, Nigerian Breweries Plc.

It stressed that the event will be held in strict compliance to COVID-19 protocols.
