The Northwestern State Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC), comprising Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Jigawa, Kano and Kaduna have thrown their weights behind Governor Mai Mala Buni-led National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.
In a statement signed by the forum Chairman – Alhaji Isa Sadiq Acida, the chairmen said they were pleased with Governor Buni Committee’s strides in reconciling the various interest groups in the party and its commitment to ensure adequate compensation for party supporters, who have continued to toil for its success

The Pacesetter News understands that the press statement of the Forum of APC Northwest Chairmen is a strong indication that Governor Mai Mala Buni-led National Executive Committee will undoubtedly seek an extension of its tenure for another six months during National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party, which is most likely to hold next month (December).
Multiple sources disclosed to Pacesetter News that the decision of the caretaker committee to seek tenure extension is as a result of limited time at its disposal to organize a national convention as scheduled.
The Pacesetter News reported that the APC NEC at its meeting in the Presidential Villa on June 25, 2020, dissolved the Adams Oshiomhole National Working Committee and setup a caretaker/extra-ordinary convention committee with Yobe Governor, Mai-Mala Buni, as Chairman. In line with the party’s constitution and decision of the NEC, the Buni-led interim committee has a six-month tenure within which it is expected to organise a national convention, where substantive leaders of the party will emerge. However, the party’s national convention can no longer hold this year, because is no preparation towards electing new national leadership of the party.
