NUJ celebrates Olubadan at 90, congratulates him on first coronation anniversary

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has felicitated the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin I), on his 90th birthday, and the first anniversary of his ascension to the throne.

The Chairman of NUJ in the state, Comrade Ademola Babalola, and Secretary, Sola Oladapo in a statement issued on Saturday, on behalf of all journalists in the pacesetter state, described the Olubadan as a paragon of traditional leadership.

Oba Olakulehin celebrates his birthday every 5th of July, which makes him to join the league of nonagenarians today,Saturday, and also his first coronation anniversary will hold next week Saturday, July 12th.

The NUJ notes that the Olubadan is not just a custodian of culture and tradition, but also a revered elder statesman, whose life is an evidence of service, wisdom, as well as commitment to national unity and communal progress.

According to the statement, “The 90 years of Oba Olakulehin on earth and one year on the throne as the paramount ruler of Ibadan are milestones that warrant celebration, not just by the people of Ibadanland, but by the entire nation and the world.”

The NUJ commended Oba Olakulehin for his enduring leadership, marked by selfless dedication to nation-building and community development.

“His reign has been characterised by peace and a steadfast commitment to the prosperity of his people. This has underscored his importance as a symbol of cultural continuity and unity.

“We join the people of Ibadanland, the wider Yoruba traditional institution, and admirers across the nation and beyond in celebrating the remarkable life and legacy of the 43rd Olubadan.

“May His Imperial Majesty continue to enjoy good health, peace, and fulfillment as he marks these significant milestones,” the statement said.
