NUJ Lauds Power Minister, Bayo Adelabu for Transparent Distribution of FG’s Rice Palliatives

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has praised the Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu for utilizing the media to reach residents through the distribution of 10,000 bags of rice as palliatives from the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government. 

 

This gesture, according to Adelabu aims to cushion the impact of the economy on the suffering masses.

 

In a statement signed by the Chairman, Ademola Babalola, and made available to reporters by the Secretary, Sola Oladapo, the NUJ appreciated the minister for the transparent manner in which he handled the distribution to various religious groups, organizations, and others in the State.

 

Notably, over 45 media houses were provided with atleast 50 bags of 25kg rice for their staffers and members of the public to make phone calls on radio programs to receive the gesture.

 

Adelabu said this initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting the masses during these challenging economic times.

 

The NUJ also commended President Tinubu for this gesture to Nigerian masses, acknowledging the efforts of the Federal Government to alleviate the suffering of citizens.

 

However, the Union urged the government to step up its economic recovery plan for the masses to provide a sigh of relief in the face of excruciating poverty and rising inflation. The NUJ emphasized the need for sustainable solutions to address the economic challenges facing the country.

 

Furthermore, the NUJ commended the Power Minister for the recent improvement in power supply, acknowledging the progress made in addressing the nation’s energy challenges.

 

The Union also tasked the minister to ensure that all Nigerians have access to electricity supply, emphasizing the importance of reliable power supply in driving economic growth and development.

 

This commendation and call to action by the NUJ highlights the critical role of the media in promoting transparency and accountability in governance, as well as the need for sustained efforts to address the economic challenges facing the nation.
