Residents and road users along the Adeoyo state hospital axis will soon have a sigh of relief as the road linking Ring Road/Adeoyo Roundabout to Olororo junction, Orita challenge in Ibadan, is set to undergo a comprehensive rehabilitation following an on the spot assessment of the road to ascertain the extent of work required for its total overhaul.
The inspection was conducted jointly by Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo and the Chairman, Oyo State Road Management Agency (OYSTROMA), Mr. Ogunlade, as part of efforts to determine the technical requirements for the rehabilitation of the road.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs to Hon. Olajide, Tolu Mustapha, the assessment was undertaken to obtain accurate technical measurements and establish the requirements for the proposed rehabilitation.
Measurements were taken along the entire stretch of the road, with particular attention to the drainage system, culverts and other areas requiring structural intervention.
Mustapha said the planned intervention would go beyond routine repairs, describing it as a total overhaul of the road corridor. He explained that drainage and culvert works would commence in the coming days, with the drainage component expected to precede the major roadwork to ensure that the underlying water flow problems are properly addressed before the road is resurfaced.
He further disclosed that following the completion of the necessary drainage works, tarring of the road would commence immediately. The sequence, according to him, is intended to ensure that the road rehabilitation is properly executed and that the newly laid surface is protected from avoidable damage caused by inadequate and poor drainage infrastructure.
The road serves as an important link between Ring Road, Adeoyo, the Adeoyo State Hospital axis and Orita Challenge, connecting residents and road users to several commercial, residential, health and public service institutions within the area. Its rehabilitation is therefore expected to improve vehicular movement and accessibility while reducing the difficulties experienced by motorists and residents using the corridor.
Mustapha said the intervention is in line with Hon. Olajide Odidiomo, who is the Oyo South senatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM),in the coming 2027 general election’s commitment to pursuing practical solutions to infrastructure challenges affecting residents and motorists, particularly through engagement with relevant authorities and technical agencies.
He added that “the immediate commencement of drainage and culvert works would mark the first phase of the rehabilitation process, while the subsequent tarring would complete the major surface work on the affected road corridor”, the statement concluded.
