The Oyo south senatorial candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, has called on security agencies to investigate alleged attacks on the campaign activities of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the district, Hon. Aderemi Oseni.

Hon. Olajide Odidiomo, in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, on Thursday, urged the Police, Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant security agencies to establish the circumstances surrounding the reported incident and identify anyone found to have been involved.

The call followed a report that Oseni’s campaign train came under attack on wednesday while he and his team were consulting with traders at Agbaje Market in Ibadan North-West Local Government Area.
According to a report on the incident, vehicles in the convoy, including a security utility vehicle, were reportedly hit by bullets, although no casualty was reported.

Odidiomo said political disagreements should not be allowed to degenerate into violence, stressing that candidates and their supporters must be able to conduct lawful political activities without intimidation or threats to their safety.
He urged security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack, establish facts behind the attack and make their findings known to the appropriate authorities.

The APM candidate said the investigation was necessary not only to protect Oseni and members of his campaign team but also to safeguard other political actors, traders, residents and members of the public who may be present at campaign and consultation activities across Oyo South.

Hon. Adedeji Olajide Odidiomo also appealed to supporters of all political parties and candidates in Oyo State to exercise restraint and avoid actions capable of escalating political disagreements.

He said the 2027 electoral process should be allowed to proceed through lawful campaigns, public engagements and the presentation of competing programmes and records to voters.
