The Mogajis in Ibadanland, Baales, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiatives (ICPI), including prominent sons and daughters of the beautiful city of Ibadanland have warned the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi over his comment against revered Ibadan masquerade, Oloolu.
The stakeholders threatened to take a stiffer step on him if he refused to desist from attacking Ibadanland culture and tradition.
Recall that Oluwo in a viral video described the movement of dreaded Oloolu across some part of the city of Ibadan as criminal and unconstitutional, saying any masquerade against women should be sent to the forest.
But a statement by the President of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori, and Coordinator, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiatives, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade wondered when Ibadan culture and tradition became something of concern to Oluwo
“If Oluwo does not understand the beauty of our culture and tradition, and he is not ready to respect the culture in which he was enthroned as a king, the tradition through which he was crowned, he should minimize his rascal to Iwo and Osun State and not extending it to Ibadanland.
“It is unfair for Oluwo to be insulting the culture and tradition of Ibadan.”
He is a senseless mad dog, he grew up in Ibadan, we knew his antecedents. He was never a well being person, he has always been a man of questionable character ? If he persists with his behaviour, we may be forced to come up with some of his pasts.
The stakeholders urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to call the monarch into order, saying it is totally abnormal for a monarch to be insulting the culture of another town.
“We don’t know why the Osun State Government has descended so low for tolerating such a misfit for this long.
“We are calling on the Osun State government to seriously warn Oluwo, otherwise, Ibadan people will not have any other option than to put him permanently restricted, because Ibadan people will not be happy with him.
“What he said against Oloolu was an insult to the institution of Olubadan, it was an insult to all traditional institutions of Ibadanland, it was an insult to all prominent personalities of Ibadan, it was an insult to the people of Ibadanland and lover of Ibadanland.
“Oluwo has presented himself as very irrational, visionless, terrible and insincere traditional rulers, we want to urge the Yoruba’s to warn him because he will regret his actions.”
The stakeholders however demanded for retraction of Oluwo statement against Oloolu within the next few days, adding that Ibadan people and the entire Yorubaland will not be happy with him if he failed to do so.
“He should not extend his useless way of thinking to Ibadanland, we shall not fold our arms and be looking while Oluwo is abusing our own Oloolu, what is the connection between Oluwo and Oloolu in Ibadanland?
“He is trying to create an everlasting crisis in Yorubaland because we don’t really know his mission, Governor Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke should call him to order.
“We have different religions in Ibadanland and we have no issues within ourselves, we have been living together with peace and harmony for ages.
“Why is this irritating Oluwo of Iwo coming up with all this madness is what we don’t understand.”
