Opinion: When Tomorrow Comes | Femi Ladapo

The events of yesterday are already history. Though they are the past, they should not be trashed in the dust bins of history.

The past have direct implications on the happenings of today. The wise learn from the events, the mistakes and the strong points of yesterday.

The events of today are unfolding.Despite plots and plans for the day, unforeseeable circumstances may alter what had seemed like a full-proof master-plan.

In your comfort zone of today there might be tendencies to forget how yesterday has shaped your position today.

A previously pauperized person who finds himself in affluence may forget what he went through before he “arrived”. The lessons of the past are easily forgotten.

The greatest undoing is not the downplayed past. It is how the actions of today will affect the events of tomorrow.

It is a bright and shining day today isn’t it?
Many will continue as if it will always shine.

A good number of people forget what they went through or had to do before mother fortune smiled on them. They believe they will never have to tread the same paths again.

They believe enough means have been garnered to replace the ones they required to get to now. After getting to Eldorado they burn the bridges they crossed.

There are also those who believe if their new adventure fails, the old brigade can still be cajoled back.

Some do it because they are carried away and blinded by the perks of their present statuses. Others do it so they have the privilege of being the only one to ever cross and prevent others from achieving the same feat.

A yoruba adage says No matter the pleasures of the glory of of today, it will end. “Ki I yeni yeni ki ile o ma su”.

It is as if tomorrow will never come. As if it will always be high tide and the sailing will last forever. After the highs the ebbing tide must come. The waters that floated you to the shore will not be there. Your boat is marooned on the on the sand and you have thrown away your paddle.

Your paddle is your yesterday that got you to the high tide.
Suddenly TOMORROW COMES.

A popular quote says “Be good to people you meet on your way up, you may need them to stop you from going down”. It is not only people but events and circumstances too.

It happens in every facet of life. Business. Relationships. Education. Politics. Governance.

No matter how glorious today is, there will always be a tomorrow.
The way you handle the Wealth, The position of Authority, The relationship and the affluence in which you find yourself today will determine where you find yourself WHEN TOMORROW COMES.

Will the same events, same people, same circumstances that worked for you yesterday still be there for you WHEN TOMORROW COMES?

Will you still find the same smiling faces and bright eyes WHEN TOMORROW COMES?

Will jeers not replace cheers WHEN TOMORROW COMES?

Will others still be eager and not in anger WHEN TOMORROW COMES?

WHATEVER YOU DO TODAY WILL DETERMINE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TOMORROW COMES EVENTUALLY.
