Oyo @ 50: Oyo State Advisory Council Congratulates Governor Makinde, State Indigenes

The Chairman Oyo State Advisory Council Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN, OFR and other members of the Council congratulate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, FNSE, D.Sc, GSSRS, and the great people of Oyo State on the historic milestone of the Oyo State @ 50 celebration.

 

In a statement issued and signed in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, Chief Ayorinde hailed the people of Oyo State for their resilience and support in taking the State to greater heights.

 

The statement said, “As we mark 50 years since the creation of Oyo State, we reflect with pride on how far we have come. Our journey has not been without challenges, but it has been shaped by resilience, shared sacrifices, notable achievements, and steady growth. This celebration belongs to all of us. It is a time to appreciate the leadership that has steered our course, the communities that have worked tirelessly for progress, and the rich cultural heritage that continues to unite us as one people”.

 

He Continued “To His Excellency and the people of Oyo State, we salute this remarkable journey. We all share the responsibility of honouring our past by building on our successes and confronting future challenges with renewed energy and determination. Together, let us step boldly into the next fifty years with pride, unity, and a strong commitment to making Oyo State a symbol of hope, prosperity, and progress for generations yet to come”.

 

Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN, OFR said “Looking ahead, the next fifty years will bring both new challenges and exciting opportunities. This golden anniversary should serve as a springboard for greater achievements. As we plan for the future, we must work towards an Oyo State that is not only economically strong but also socially just — a State where no one is left behind and where every citizen has access to opportunities that improve their quality of life”. The Statement said.

 

The Chairman of the Oyo State Advisory Council hinted further that Investment in technology and innovation will be vital to meeting the demands of a rapidly changing world. The digital age has transformed how we live and work, and Oyo State must take its place at the forefront of this transformation. By strengthening digital infrastructure, improving internet access, and promoting technology-driven education, we can prepare a skilled workforce ready for the future.

 

The statement noted that as we face the realities of climate change and environmental challenges, Oyo State must lead by example in sustainable development. This means protecting our natural resources while embracing innovation in areas such as renewable energy and sustainable agriculture.
