The leaderships of the Oyo State Branch and Chapter of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) have jointly condemned the recent invasion of her National Secretariat in Yaba, Lagos by expelled former President, Bola Audu and some charlatans.
According to the press statement that was jointly signed by the Branch Chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Olayiwola, Chapter Chairman, Comrade Balogun Babatunde and the State Secretary of the council, Comrade Mustapha Babatunde, Mr. Bola Audu has been making frantic efforts since his cover was blown last year February by NAPTIP about his uncomradely inhuman transactions to dent the image of the Union. This was why the NEC-in-session in March and August, 2021 respectively suspended and subsequently expelled him in a bid to protect the image of the industrial union.
It was gathered that the aggrieved former president, Mr. Innocent Bola Audu who was asked to step aside by the National Executive Council of the Association in March 2020 to clear his name in court for allegations levied against him by National Agency For The Prohibition Of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP) for trafficking in human persons and exploitation of the vulnerable among other allegations, and to absolve the Association of complicity in which he refused to step aside but forcefully invaded the national secretariat annex in Abuja in May 2021; an invasion that was repelled by Comrades unground and personnel of the Department of State Security Service.
They noted that the uncivil development made the NEC-in-session at its last NEC meeting which held between 15th – 17th August 2021 at Airport Hotel, Ikeja Lagos to expel the former national president for anti-union activities and refusal to adhere to the decision of NEC pending the outcome of the court cases instituted against him by NAPTIP and a suit he filed against the Association for asking him to step aside.
Audu was said to have subsequently hired the services of some politically desperate and greedy former comrades who before now had personalized the Union’s collective patrimony for their personal development.
“It is most saddened and unfortunate that Comrade Emmanual Ogundiran and Comrade Dr. Sunday Ojelabi from Oyo State are part of this charades that also involve political jobbers like Andrew Emelieze; who is an expelled member of the Union, despite what they have both benefitted from the platform. We want to warn Bola Audu and his recruits in Oyo State to desist from fuelling the sparks of falsehood about the Union and its leaders and should respect the decision of NEC who gave him the aborted mandate in the first place.
“Oyo state council wish to also employ this medium to appeal to the relevant security agencies to act swiftly in calling the said hoodlums led by Comr. Innocent Bola Audu to order and allow the smooth operations of the National Secretariat of the Association and all its offices across the nation.
“Conclusively, we in Oyo state are highly impressed by the pro-workers programmes, financial prudency and workers related interventions of the national leadership of the union, and are passing vote of confidence on the Central Working Committee of our industrial union led by Comrade Dr. Tommy Etim Okon, the National President, Comrade Alade Bashir Lawal, the Secretary General and other CWC members”, the statement reads in part.
