All is set to host another edition of Journalists Hang Out 2022 in Ibadan as the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Adebayo Abdul-Raheem Lawal will Chair the event along with an Ibadan high Chief & veteran journalist, Oloye Lekan Alabi as the lead discussant.
The annual colloquium-like event was designed by Ibadan Media Ltd to bring together media practitioners, such as Writers, Photo-Journalists, OAPs, Bloggers, Social Media Influencers, and Public Relations personnel to discuss and deliberate on any issues challenging the industry and the state of the nation.
This year’s edition is special according to the convener, Olalekan Olanrewaju Ola, the Publisher & Founder of Ibadan Media Limited because it precedes 2023 general elections hence plan has concluded to draw from veterans in the industry to fashion out possible solutions to many ills bothering our society.
“We are doing this year’s edition again in partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, Broadcasting Cooperation of Oyo State (BCOS) and that is why it is tagged: ‘Veteran’s Edition’ and plans have been concluded to have as many veterans as the panelists on the program”, he said.
He noted that the alarming crime rate in the society will form the foundation of this year’s discussion as cases of kidnapping have become everyday news, adding that most of today’s youths are looking for ‘quick money’ without hassle or with no labor, hence responsible for the theme: ‘Stemming the tide of get rich quick syndrome and ritual killings. – The role of the media.
Speakers for the day include; Amb. (Dr.) Yemi Farounbi, Mr. Yanju Adegbite, (former Chairman BCOS), Mr. Victor Oluwadamilare (former Oyo NUJ Chairman), Amb. Wale Ojo-Lanre (Director-General, Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture), Dr. Festus Adedayo (Columnist & Member Board of Editors, Nigerian Tribune), and Mr. Yemi Sonde (CEO & Founder YES 101.7FM).
Others are Deacon Owolabi Oladejo (Founder IBR Radio & TV), Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa (female broadcaster), Mr. Taiwo Adisa (Chief Press Secretary to Oyo Governor), Chief Rasheed Adegboyega (Politician & Founder Solution FM, Ibadan.), Fatimah Hassan (Oyo South APC Women Leader), Rtd. The event is scheduled to be held at the Dapo Aderogba Hall, Oyo NUJ Press Centre, Iyanganku, Ibadan by 1:00pm on Sunday, 28th of August, 2022. Another part of the activities for the day is the award presentation to some individuals who have in one way or the other made the event a reality.
