Oyo-Ile Forum Calls For Investment in Oyo Economy

A Non-Governmental Organisation, known as Oyo-Ile Investors’ Forum, on Thursday, called for an expansion of Oyo State’s economy through investments from foreign and local investors.

The NGO said that Oyo State has grown in the spate of two years, to clinge the fourth richest state among other states, calling on patriotic investors to join the forum in expanding the State’s economy.

Participants at the 2nd edition of Oyo-Ile Investors’ Forum, a support network of Investors across the globe, made the appeal in Ibadan, Oyo state capital to investors to join hands with the Oyo State Government to build and expand the economy of the Pace-setter state.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Forum, Engr. Yinka Owodunni said the growing economy of the state is due to the vision, ingenuity and initiatives of the present administration, under Governor Seyi Makinde.

He noted that the Forum, which prides in about 100 membership has succeeded in executing between N70bn-N100billion worth projects in the State.

Owodunni therefore called on Investors to be prepared for the huge potential IGR, noting that Oyo State Government is turning the State to a true commercial and industrial hub.

He added that the State Government has created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, using the key indicators of economic expansion, such as the Lagos-Ibadan expressway expansion, the ongoing construction of Ibadan mordern terminals and implementation of various infrastructural projects across the State.

The Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Prof. Daud Shangodoyin noted that a good number of infrastructural development have been carried out by the present administration within the past two years while many are still underway.

Prof. Shangodoyin said the state is driven on four-point agenda, which has led to tremendous progress in the areas of education, health, security and expansion of the state’s economy through agriculture value chain.

ā€œEmbedded in the strides towards actualisation of the above stated agenda are many infrastructural development. A good number of the infrastructural development have already been carried out within the past two years while many are still underwayā€, he said.

He expressed pleasure at the eagerness and passion of a new and better Oyo State, the pace setter state.

ā€œI wish to express my pleasure for being amongst fellow patriots eager and passionate for a new and better Oyo State, the pace setter state.ā€

He said the State Government has completed 72 km of roads in the past two years, not excluding the buildings and transportation sector of the State.
