In a statement signed by the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola and made available to reporters by the union’s Secretary, Sola Oladapo, the NUJ described Rep Akinremi as a philanthropist of note who touched many lives during his lifetime.

“The Oyo NUJ is deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Adewale Akinremi. He was a friend of the media and a champion of the people. His contributions to the development of Ibadan North, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole will never be forgotten,” the statement read.

According to the union, Rep Akinremi was a strong supporter of journalism and always identified with the struggles of journalists in the state.

He was known for his generosity and kindness, especially to the less privileged.
