The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Oyo state chapter has commiserated with Seyi Makinde of Oyo state and the entire residents of Ogbomosoland over the demise of Soun of Ogbomoso, Òba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III.
RTEAN, in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday by the state chairman, Comrade Kamorudeen Idowu popularly called Owo Gesi, described the monarch as the architect of modern day Ogbomosho who was very committed to the welfare and development of Ogbomosholand.
It was said that Oba Oyewumi’s reign brought peace and stability to the people of Ogbomoso.
The statement further described the demise of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi JP CON, CFR, as a huge loss to yorubaland and Nigeria.
Owo Gesi added that the king left indelible marks in Ogbomoso, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
The association, who mourned the passing of the foremost traditional ruler, described him as a quintessential monarch, a man of peace and a passionate supporter of development.
It was said that the monarch made lasting impact on his domain.
“Oba Oyewumi used his wealth of experience to develop Ogbomosoland over the past decades.
“I extend my condolences to the monarch’s immediate family, the people of Ogbomoso and the Oyo State Council of Obas.
“Though baba lived up to the age 95, his death at this time is still a huge loss to the state and the traditional institution, because he has created a vacuum not only in Ogbomosoland but also in the entire state and the nation”, Owo Gesi concluded.
