Oyo State Education Gets 21% out of Gov. Makinde’s N266.6b 2021 Budget Proposal

Oyo State Education sector is to get 21% as Governor Seyi Makinde presented a budget proposal of ₦266,644,273,305.04to the Oyo State House of Assembly for the 2021 fiscal year.

The appropriation bill tagged, “Budget of Continued Consolidation, is N12bn Naira above 2020 budget.

Engr. Makinde while presenting the budget proposal stated that the total budgeted sum is ₦266,644,273,305.04. “The Recurrent Expenditure is ₦136,262,990,009.41 while the Capital Expenditure is ₦130,381,283,295.63. We are again, aiming for at least 70% implementation of the budget” he said.

The education sector received the lion share of the 2021 appropriation with the allocation of N56.4billion, which represents 21 per cent of the total budget estimate to the sector.

“This Budget of Continued Consolidation was prepared with input from stakeholders in all seven geopolitical zones of our state. The allocation to the education sector is well above the recommendation of the United Nations Educational Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)” said the governor.
