Easter: ‘Wolekanle’ Congratulates Christians, Calls for More Prayers for Gov Makinde, Oyo State

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole better known as Wolekanle, has congratulated Christians across the state and Nigeria on the celebration of Easter, urging them to reflect on the values of love, sacrifice, and renewal associated with the season.

In a statement issued on Easter Sunday, Wolekanle said the resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolizes hope for a better tomorrow, and called on Christians to embrace peace and unity in their communities.

He noted that Nigeria needs more than ever the spirit of togetherness to overcome its challenges.

Wolekanle also urged Christians to remember Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in their prayers, especially as he continues to steer the affairs of the state.

He also emphasized the importance of divine guidance and wisdom for leaders to deliver on their mandates.

He reassured the people of Oyo State of his continued commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, development, and the overall well-being of citizens, especially in the areas of education and youth empowerment

Eternal Home CEO, Kadiri Admonishes Nigerian Youths to Defy Expectations for Success

The Chief Executive Officer of Eternal Home Cemetery, Ibadan, Dr. Adebukola Kadiri, has urged Nigerian youths to never lose hope in the face of adversity.

Dr. Kadiri made this call while addressing newsmen at the book launch and 40th birthday celebrations of Musliudeen Atanda Adebayo, a Daily Post Correspondent reporter in Oyo state.

The event which was themed “Defying Expectations”, highlighted Adebayo’s  remarkable story of perseverance from being a conductor to becoming a journalist.

Dr. Kadiri who was the mother of the day for the event praised Adebayo’s inspiring story, saying it was a testament to the power of hard work, determination and faith.

“With prayers, hard work, and determination, you can achieve your goals”, she said.

She emphasized that the current challenges in the country should not discourage young people from pursuing their dreams.

The CEO noted that Adebayo’s journey from humble beginning to success was a shining example of what can be achieved through perseverance and dedication.

“Despite challenges, he stayed focused and worked hard, and with God’s guidance, he achieved his dreams”.

Her messages were of hope and encouragement, urging young people to stay focused and committed to their goals.

She stated that the current state of the country can be discouraging, but Adebayo’s story shows that with perseverance and dedication, one can overcome obstacles and succeed.

As a mother, she predicted that Adebayo would continue to achieve great things in the next five to ten years, saying, “His determination and hard work will take him far.

“Musliudeen’s story is a testament to the fact that with hard work and determination, anyone can achieve their goals, regardless of their background or circumstances. His journey from being a conductor to becoming a journalist is an inspiration to many, and his story serves as a reminder that success is within reach”.

The book launch and 40th birthday celebrations of Musliudeen Atanda Adebayo was a grand success, with many notable personalities in attendance.

The event served as a platform for Dr. Kadiri to share her message of hope and inspiration with the young people in attendance.

The aides of Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) have felicitated their principal on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a rare gem and a selfless leader whose impact continues to be felt across Oyo South and beyond.

 

This is contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Ibadan

 

The aides said Senator Alli’s unwavering commitment to good governance, grassroots development, and the welfare of his constituents sets him apart as a visionary public servant.

 

They commended his leadership style, marked by humility, accessibility and responsiveness, noting that his representation at the Senate has brought dignity, progress and renewed hope to the people of Oyo South Senatorial District.

Joy, Reflections as Children Celebrate Mama Ruth Adeleye at 90

It was a day of joy, gratitude, and deep reflection as family, friends, and dignitaries gathered to celebrate the 90th birthday of Mama Ruth Adeleye, a revered matriarch whose life has touched many across Ilorin and Ogbomoso.

 

The milestone celebration began with a thanksgiving service at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Sabo Oke, Ilorin, where Mama has been a long-standing and active member. The church overflowed with relatives, well-wishers, and admirers who came to honor a woman described as “a pillar of strength, integrity, and grace.”

 

In his sermon, the minister in charge, Rev. Dr. Moses Adewole Adeyemo, praised Mama Adeleye’s devotion to faith and community. “Mama is worthy of celebration—not just for her longevity, but for a life well spent in service to others. Her life teaches us that no matter the trials of today, tomorrow always holds promise,” he said.

 

The celebration continued at Elisam Hall, Ogbomoso, where guests paid glowing tributes to the nonagenarian. Family members, dignitaries, and friends highlighted her selfless nature, resilience, and unwavering commitment to family values.

 

Despite the challenges of singlehandedly raising seven children, Mama Adeleye was praised for doing so with love, strength, and faith. “She taught us integrity, and the values she instilled have shaped our lives in meaningful ways,” one of her children said.

 

Hon. Williams Adeleye, one of her sons and a former Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, said, “She has a good spirit, a caring heart, and a lovely character. She gave her all to ensure we succeeded in life. Nothing is too much to celebrate her—her presence remains a blessing to many.”

 

In an emotional speech, Mama Ruth Adeleye expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for His grace and mercies throughout her life. “Jesus surprised me in many ways. Despite overwhelming challenges, God never failed me. I am thankful for my children, grandchildren, in-laws, and everyone who came to celebrate me,” she said.

 

Born in Mosadiwin, Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mama Ruth Adeleye was married to the late Pa Ezekiel Adeleye Apata. Their union was blessed with seven children—Mr. Michael Adeleye Apata, Mrs. Dorcas Abosede Oke, Hon. Williams Adeleye, Mrs. Elizabeth Funke Ayoola, Mr. Abraham Adebukola Adeleye, Mrs. Victoria Temilade Akinbola, and Mr. Adegbola Jacob Adeleye—as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

The event was graced by an array of dignitaries, including the Olugbon of Ile Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao and Olori Olusola Alao; Chief Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication; Professor Sola Adepoju; Hon. Easter: ‘Iba Agba’ Admonishes Christians to Renew Commitment to Promote Harmony, Peace

Honourable Adedeji Adesoji Michael popularly known as Iba Agba, the House of Representatives hopeful for Ogo-Oluwa/ Surulere under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), has enjoined Christians worldwide especially in Nigeria to renew their commitment to promoting harmony and peace in their communities.

The residents of Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere anticipated lawmaker charged Christians to uphold the virtues of humility, love, selflessness and sacrificial spirit exhibited by Jesus Christ as they celebrate Easter.

He stated this in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen, encouraged Christians to draw inspiration from the Easter season to foster unity, understanding and goodwill among people of all faiths.

Olubadan Revokes Appointment  of 2 Mogajis

The revocation of the appointments of two Mogajis have been approved by His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr.) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin 1) and the Olubadan Advisory Council.

 

The two Mogajis whose appointments were revoked are Chief Musilu Yekini Olaoye of Peluseriki Compound, Isale Osi, Ibadan and Chief Rasaki Funso Ayinde Oguntobi of Oloola Ogungbesan Compound, Bode, Ibadan. The revocations were with immediate effect.

 

The plenary Session of the Olubadan Advisory Council held on 7th April,2025 resolved and approved the revocation of the appointment of the duo.

 

The two Mogajis appointments were revoked as a result of non support of their family members to their emergence as Mogajis, furgitive attitude towards their nomination as Mogajis and other offences detrimental to their positions as Mogajis.

 

“The two Mogajis should henceforth stop parading themselves as Mogajis in Ibadanland”, Olubadan warned.

2027 Governorship Race: Olooye Adegoke Begins Consultations With Oyo PDP Leaders

As the race towards the 2027 general elections is gaining momentum, the Ibadan – born Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Solutions FM, Ibadan, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke (FCA) met with some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the residence of the Co-Chairman of the PDP Elders’ Council, Chief Wole Oyelese at Ikolaba Area of Ibadan.

In a statement made available to journalists by Adegoke’s media team on Wednesday, the meeting which took place on Tuesday also had in attendance the Chairman of the Elders’ Council, who is a member of the PDP Board of Trustees and former Chief of Staff to Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, Dr Saka Balogun from Ogbomoso, Chief Hamid Gbadamosi from Oke-Ogun, Chief Jacob Adetoro from Oke-Ogun, Prince Sunday Ogunlade from Oyo and Chief Nureni Akanbi.

While the outcome of the meeting remains unknown as all the parties maintained sealed lips, political observers believe it is not unconnected with the ambition of Olooye Adegoke in becoming the Governor of Oyo State in 2027.

What will make the political terrain in the PDP in Oyo State an interesting one is the fact that the incumbent governor of the state, Engr. Seyi Makinde is in the second year of his second and constitutionally allowed last term.

Olooye Adegoke was at his PDP Ward meeting last weekend and when questioned about his political plan ahead of 2027, he said his ambition is to serve the people of Oyo State as Governor.

Many political watchers in the Pacesetter State are of the view that if Olooye Adegoke declares interest in the state Governorship, he will have a lot of goodwill to fall upon.

A Philanthropist of high note, gentle and calm business magnate, Olooye Adegoke has since pitched his tent with and very active in the ruling PDP in Oyo State. He has consistently maintained that Allah give position and his intention is to serve the good people of Oyo State

Aside Ibadan his home town, Olooye Adegoke has spread his philanthropic activities to Ibarapa, Oke Ogun and other parts of the state with many widows and the downtrodden benefitted from his kind heart during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

He has also assisted the government and the populace in the development of healthcare, education and infrastructural developments across the state.

The consultation which took place on Tuesday is seen by political observers as first in the series of consultations to be embarked upon by Olooye Adegoke ahead of his 2027 political journey.

 

The consultation is coming on the heels of similar moves and political talks among prominent politicians across the country.

Olubadan Installs 9 Mogajis, 2 Baales

The Olubadan of Ibadanland His Imperial Majesty Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin ( Ige Olakulehin 1) has installed nine Mogajis and two Baales.

The installation ceremony took place on Monday at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.

During the ceremony, the Olubadan speaking through High Chief (Senator) Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland congratulated the newly installed traditional title holders for being counted worthy to receive the traditional titles.

“You are the accredited representatives of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, therefore you must ensure that peace reigns supreme in your domains as no meaningful development can be achieved without peace” he admonished them.

“Desist from any act that can tannish the reputation of the traditional institution such as land grabbing, insubordination to elders within your families and oppression of family members whom you represent”, the Olubadan warned the newly installed chiefs

Gracing the occasion were members of Olubadan Advisory Council, former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Ambassador Taofik Oladejo Arapaja, traditional rulers , religious leaders, business tycoons and well- wishers.

The nine Mogajis installed were Mr. Giwa Adeboye Kamaldeen from Aliiwo Compound in Ibadan North East Local Government, Alhaji ( Engr.) Kamorudeen Olalekan Adebimpe of Adebimpe family, Odinjo in Ibadan South East,Alhaji Muritala Iyanda Aloba of Aloba family, Inalende in Ibadan North, Engr (Dr. ) Kazeem Rabiu of Akinsumbo Compound, Oke – Balogun Opooyeosa Ibadan North West.Others are Alhaji Kadir Yusuf Farayola, Samonda family, Ile Samonda, Oje in Ibadan North East.

Also installed as Mogajis were Mr. Olukayode David Oduntan Awise of Oduntan Awise Compound, Oke – Offa in Ibadan North East, Alhaji Abideen Mustatapha,Eleko family, Kososi Street,Idi Arere in Ibadan South West.

Further more, Mr. Yinusa Taiwo Ibilade Apapa of Apapa Compound, Labiran in Ibadan North East, Alhaji Sholagbade Nureni Oladejo Arapaja, Arapaja family, Kudeti in Ibadan South West were installed as Mogajis.

The Baales installed were Chief Raimi Ibrahim Edujobi from Edujobi village in Egbeda Local Government as well as Mr. Morakinyo Muniru Fagbemi of the Fagbemi village in Akinyele Local Government Areas of Oyo State.

Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) and Senator Yunus Akintunde (APC-Oyo Central), on Tuesday, paid a condolence visit to Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, over the death of their daughter, Mrs. Abisola Kola-Daisi.

The senators visited the Ajimobi family residence in Lagos to express their heartfelt sympathy and stand in solidarity with the grieving family during this painful period.

They described the passing of Mrs Kola-Daisi as a tragic and deeply painful loss, not only to the family but also to the entire Oyo State.

Senator Alli noted that Mrs Kola-Daisi was a vibrant and compassionate woman who made a remarkable impact in various spheres of life.

He said her untimely death had left a huge vacuum, especially in the hearts of those who knew her closely.

The lawmaker prayed for the repose of her soul and the strength for the family to bear the loss.

Senator Akintunde also expressed deep sorrow, saying the loss of a child was one of the most devastating experiences for any parent.

He commended Mrs Florence Ajimobi for her courage and grace in the face of adversity, urging her to take solace in the impactful life her daughter lived and the legacy she left behind.

The senators also offered prayers for the entire Ajimobi and Kola-Daisi families, asking God to comfort them and grant them the fortitude to cope with the painful exit of their beloved daughter, wife, and mother.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin and Senator representing Oyo South district, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli are among the dignitaries expected at the launch of a book authored by Musliudeen Atanda Adebayo, Oyo State correspondent for DAILY POST newspaper.

The book titled “Defying Expectations: My Story of Perseverance from Conductor to Journalist” according to a statement made available to journalists by the author, on Tuesday is billed to be launched on Sunday, 20th April at Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat Iyaganku Ibadan.

Other personalities expected at the event which coincides with the 40th birthday of the author are former governor of the state, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, Speaker Oyo state House of Assembly/ Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Hon. The statement added that the author who is a trained Social Worker but ventured into journalism in 2009, is a doctoral student in the Department of Social Work at the University of Ibadan.

It added that Adebayo graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work and Administration from University of Jos, Plateau State in 2010, obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism at International Institute of Journalism, Abuja in 2012 and bagged Master of Science degree in Sociology (Medical Sociology) at University of Ibadan in 2021.

He added that “the book highlights my maternal and paternal lineages, early childhood, nurturing period, schooling, marriage, professional engagements, as well as my journey in the academics. Alloy Obi felicitates Oba Owoade as 46th Alaafin

The Onyendu Ndigbo of Ibadanland and Oyo State, High Chief Alloy Obi, has congratulated the 46th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, on his coronation and presentation of the staff of office by the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

Obi in a congratulatory message he personally signed, acknowledged the significance of the coronation and staff of office which represents the pinnacle of traditional leadership and cultural heritage in Yorubaland.

He commended the people of Oyo Kingdom for the success of the programme, praying for wisdom as well as a long and fruitful reign for the first class monarch.

According to him, “I send warmest felicitations to His Imperial Majesty, the new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, on his ascension to the revered throne of his forefathers.

‘Odidiomo’ Remembers Dad

It was a gathering marked by warmth, reflections and tribute-filled emotions as Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide (Odidiomo), a serving member of the House of Representatives, representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency, hosted family members, friends, political associates and well-wishers to commemorate the one-year remembrance of his late father, Alhaji Abdullateef Akin-Tokunbo Olajide, fondly called Baba LATO.

The ceremony, which took place on Friday, April 12, 2025, at the Anfani, Off Ring Road, Ibadan residence of the late patriarch of the Olajide family, witnessed a significant turnout of dignitaries, political heavyweights, Islamic clerics, traditional title holders, community leaders and captains of industry from within and outside Oyo State.

The late Alhaji Olajide, a revered community leader and astute businessman, passed away on the 12th of April, 2024 and was buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

Widely respected for his philanthropy, humility, and deep sense of community service, Baba LATO’s legacy continues to inspire, even in death.

Saturday’s remembrance event began with a special Islamic prayer held in his honour at Lateef Olajide central mosque, Anfani, Ibadan, followed by Quranic recitation sessions, prayers for the repose of his soul, and an open air reception party at the family home.

In their tributes, notable guests and community leaders described the late Alhaji Olajide as “a man of many parts” — a phrase echoed repeatedly by speakers who recounted his numerous contributions to the socio-economic and political development of Ibadanland and beyond.

“Baba LATO was not only a father to his biological children, but a mentor to many of us who encountered him,” remarked Alhaji Tajudeen Abass Alesinloye, a respected political leaders and elder from the Ibadan South-West Local Government Area. “His doors were always open. He gave without seeking returns and served humanity till his last breath.”

Hon. Olajide, visibly moved by the outpouring of love and kind words about his father, expressed gratitude to all present for their support throughout the past year.

“Today is emotional for my family and me,” he said in his brief remarks. “My father was my first teacher, my compass and my hero. He lived a life that touched many. Your presence here today affirms that he lived well and left behind a legacy of honour. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljanah Firdaus.”

Among the dignitaries present were, Chief Nureni Akanbi, several members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, party chieftains from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), community heads, and business associates of the late Baba LATO.

Also in attendance were traditional rulers, including Baales from Ibadanland, who praised the elder statesman’s contributions to communal peace and youth empowerment.

The ceremony had a refreshing blend of tradition and elegance. Guests were treated to a mix of traditional Yoruba music, light entertainment, and culinary delights. A photo exhibition showcasing the late Alhaji Olajide’s life and times was also part of the highlight, drawing nostalgic memories from attendees.

The late Baba LATO was known for his quiet generosity, strong moral values and enduring influence on both grassroots politics and small business development within Oyo State. He mentored several young entrepreneurs and supported countless indigent families during his lifetime.

As the sun set on the evening of reflection, one thing was clear: Baba LATO lives on in the hearts of many whose lives he touched — and his son, Hon. Adedeji Olajide, continues to walk in the path of legacy, service and impact.
